Jharkhand Chief Minister Allocates Rs 2,500 Each to 56 Lakh Women Under 'Maiya Samman Yojana'

Ranchi, Jan 6 (NationPress) The Chief Minister of Jharkhand, Hemant Soren, on Monday, made a significant transfer of Rs 2,500 each as the December instalment under the ‘Maiya Samman Yojana’ to the bank accounts of more than 56 lakh women across the state.
A grand gathering was held at Namkum Khojatoli Ground in Ranchi to celebrate this momentous occasion, with around two lakh women from various regions participating.
While addressing the attendees, CM Soren stated, “This initiative represents a crucial move towards making women financially self-reliant. I am glad to deliver on the promises made by our government prior to the elections.”
Using a remote button, the CM successfully transferred a total of Rs 1,415.44 crore to the accounts of 56,61,791 women as part of the scheme.
Originally initiated five months ago with a monthly payment of Rs 1,000, the scheme saw an increase to Rs 2,500 per month after a Cabinet decision was made just before the elections.
CM Soren highlighted the significance of gender equality in fostering comprehensive development. He remarked, “The vision of holistic development cannot be achieved unless men and women collaborate equally. This initiative aims to empower women and elevate their status.”
He also critiqued the Opposition for doubting the government's capacity to fund this scheme. “When we initiated the Rs 1,000 per month assistance, we faced ridicule. The announcement of the increase to Rs 2,500 led the Opposition to question its feasibility. Today, we have proven them wrong,” Soren asserted.
The Chief Minister encouraged women to actively engage in the state’s development and underscored the importance of small savings for securing their children's futures. He urged them to utilize the funds to address malnutrition for themselves and their children.
Soren also expressed his appreciation to women for their tremendous support during the elections. “We have formed the government with your blessings, and our top priority is to ensure your self-reliance and development,” he stated.
The event also featured speeches from Jharkhand’s Finance Minister Radha Krishna Kishore, Minister Chamra Linda, and MLA Kalpana Soren, among others.
