Seoni, Nov 12 (NationPress) Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav has deposited over Rs 1,857 crore directly into the bank accounts of 12.6 million women throughout Madhya Pradesh as part of the Mukhyamantri Ladli Behan Yojana.
This latest disbursement enables eligible recipients to receive Rs 1,500 per month, an increase from the previous Rs 1,250, with plans for the BJP government to boost assistance to Rs 3,000 per month in the future.
The Chief Minister initiated the transfer with a simple click during a state-level event in Seoni on Wednesday. This new allocation brings the total financial aid distributed under the program to over Rs 44,917.92 crore since its launch in June 2023.
Additionally, Dr Yadav unveiled development initiatives valued at Rs 560 crore for the district during the same gathering.
In his address, the CM engaged with beneficiaries and underscored the transformative influence of the initiative on women's lives. He pointed out that the scheme has improved economic independence, enhanced social respect, and fortified women’s roles in family decision-making.
Many women present expressed their heartfelt appreciation, affectionately calling the Chief Minister 'brother Mohan'. Some women drew a poignant analogy, suggesting that Dr Yadav cares for them similarly to how Lord Krishna protected his sister Subhadra.
The Mukhyamantri Ladli Behan Yojana, active for nearly two and a half years, has provided financial assistance in 29 monthly installments up until October 2025. Furthermore, women were given a special Raksha Bandhan aid of Rs 250 each in August 2023, 2024, and 2025.
The direct benefit transfer system guarantees transparency and empowers women by connecting them to formal banking services.
Beneficiaries mentioned that the monthly aid is being used for crucial household expenses, education for their children, healthcare, and starting small-scale businesses. This has increased self-reliance and instilled greater confidence in women, allowing them to make meaningful contributions to their families and communities.
The scheme is implemented across all 52 districts of the state. Indore leads with 4,40,723 enrolled women, followed by Sagar with 4,19,000, Rewa with 4,03,000, Chhindwara with 3,90,000, Dhar with 3,82,000, and Jabalpur with 3,81,000 beneficiaries. Even smaller districts have seen significant effects, with 93,516 women in Harda and 80,157 in Niwari receiving support.
Government officials hailed the program as a fundamental element of women-focused development in Madhya Pradesh, attributing it to the reduction of gender disparities in financial accessibility and decision-making authority.
The Chief Minister reaffirmed the state's dedication to continuing the scheme, ensuring ongoing empowerment for millions of sisters in both urban and rural regions.
The Seoni event wrapped up with cultural presentations and testimonials from beneficiaries, highlighting the scheme's role in fostering a more inclusive and equitable society.
