In attendance were Governor Santosh Kumar Gangwar and Chief Minister Hemant Soren, who together launched the initiatives alongside numerous cabinet ministers and public representatives.
During his address, Governor Gangwar reflected on the significance of Jharkhand’s 25th anniversary, describing it as a time for “self-respect, reflection, and self-determination”.
He emphasized that the foundation of the state is built upon the struggles and dreams of figures like Bhagwan Birsa Munda, Sidhu-Kanhu, Nilambar-Pitambar, and Phool-Jhano.
Governor Gangwar also acknowledged the crucial influence of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee in establishing Jharkhand, stating his vision was instrumental in achieving statehood.
He highlighted that November 15 is particularly important as it marks the birth anniversary of Birsa Munda, coinciding with the national observance of Tribal Pride Day in his memory.
The Governor, who was part of the Union Cabinet during Jharkhand's inception in 2000, expressed his pride in having voted for the state’s creation.
He paid homage to the late Dishom Guru Shibu Soren, acknowledging the state’s debt to his lifelong struggle.
Gangwar pointed out advancements in essential sectors such as education, agriculture, mining, energy, sports, and culture achieved over the last 25 years.
However, he noted that persistent challenges in education, healthcare, unemployment, and outmigration still demand ongoing focus. “Jharkhand has made notable progress despite its challenges,” he remarked.
Chief Minister Hemant Soren emphasized that Jharkhand is a land of heroes, shaped by the sacrifices of many martyrs. He stated, “Our commitment is to elevate Jharkhand to a developed state, reflecting the aspirations of our people,” adding that the youth born after the state’s formation are now pivotal in its development journey.
Soren conveyed that his government is significantly investing in the welfare of villages, the underprivileged, farmers, women, and daughters.
He outlined various initiatives in health, education, sports, infrastructure, and tourism, assuring that Jharkhand aims to set “new standards” in the coming years.
The event also featured an exhibition honoring the legacy of Dishom Guru Shibu Soren and showcased departmental stalls.
Performances by cultural groups from across the state enlivened the event, with flower petals showered from a helicopter over the gathering.
