Guwahati, Feb 19 (NationPress) Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced on Wednesday that the Jhumoir dance, which will be featured at the forthcoming investment summit 'Advantage Assam', aims to portray the tea garden culture of the state.
In a post on X, CM Sarma stated, “With just 5 days remaining for the #JhumoirBinandini, which will showcase the essence of our tea garden culture, let's explore the various musical instruments used in Jhumoir.”
The Chief Minister is focused on attracting investments through the upcoming summit, scheduled for February 25 and 26.
CM Sarma emphasized that this summit will foster increased investments in the state, promising more government employment opportunities and support for entrepreneurship.
Recently, the CM visited South Korea, Japan, and Singapore where he engaged with leading industry figures to encourage them to invest in Assam.
As per the Chief Minister, the event will feature the traditional Jhumur dance performed by the tea tribe clans, stating, “This summit serves as a platform to present Assam's rich traditions to a worldwide audience while attracting investors.”
A spectacular performance of the Jhumur dance involving over 7,500 dancers and artists will be a highlight of the event. “It will be an extraordinary show,” the CM remarked earlier.
Preparations for this cultural showcase are in full swing. The Chief Minister noted, “We will ensure perfect execution through master training workshops, sessions at the constituency level, district-level performances, and final rehearsals in Guwahati.”
The concert, set to take place on either day of the summit, is expected to leave a lasting impression on attendees. This initiative follows Assam's achievement of a Guinness World Record for the largest Bihu dance performance.
The objective of Advantage Assam 2.0, the second edition of the international investor summit since its launch in 2018, is to enhance infrastructure development and investment within the state.
This two-day event is anticipated to attract investors from across India and around the globe, reinforcing Assam's status as a new investment hub in the country.
