Guwahati, Feb 8 (NationPress) Assam is gearing up to host the largest Jhumur dance in the world, known as Jhumoir, coinciding with the upcoming investment summit in the state, as announced by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Saturday. He noted that the event will be honored by the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
"The world's largest Jhumoir performance is poised to take place on February 24, in the company of Hon'ble Prime Minister Shri @narendramodi ji," the Assam CM shared on X, along with a brief video clip.
The two-day investment summit—Advantage Assam—is scheduled for February 25 and 26. A day earlier, the Assam government aims to secure a Guinness World Record by organizing the largest-ever Jhumur dance in the presence of PM Modi.
Sarma stated, "This summit serves as a platform to present Assam's rich cultural heritage to a global audience while attracting potential investors."
He emphasized that the spectacular Jhumur dance performance, featuring over 7,500 dancers and artists, will be an extraordinary spectacle.
Preparations for this cultural event are currently in progress.
"We will ensure flawless execution through master training workshops, constituency-level sessions, district-level performances, and final rehearsals in Guwahati," the Assam CM remarked.
This initiative follows Assam's previous achievement of setting a Guinness World Record for the largest Bihu dance performance.
The goal of Advantage Assam 2.0, the second phase of the international investor summit launched in 2018, is to enhance infrastructure development and investment in the state.
The two-day event is anticipated to attract investors from across India and globally, reinforcing Assam's position as a promising investment destination in the country.
Previously, Sarma stated that Assam has transformed into one of the most peaceful states in India, with a significant decline in crime rates. He also mentioned that projects are being expedited, with ease of doing business and a single-window clearance system making the state an appealing spot for investments.
