New Delhi, April 3 (NationPress) BJP leader and Member of Parliament Naveen Jindal has urged the central government to set up a Food Testing Laboratory in Kurukshetra as part of the "One District, One Lab" initiative.

During the Question Hour in the Lok Sabha on Thursday, Jindal emphasized the necessity of a modern food testing facility to ensure food safety, public health, and consumer rights.

He remarked, "Every district should have access to adequate food testing infrastructure. Kurukshetra, being a significant agricultural hub and a growing urban center, is perfectly suited for such a facility. It will not only aid local farmers but also guarantee safer food for consumers."

Jindal has consistently highlighted issues concerning food quality, transparent labeling, and the regulation of ultra-refined seed oils in Parliament. His recent appeal aligns with his broader vision of enhancing public health and food safety regulations nationwide.

In response to Jindal’s appeal, Union Minister for Food and Consumer Affairs Chirag Paswan recognized the significance of the issue. He assured that the proposal for a food testing laboratory in Kurukshetra would be favorably considered and that the ministry would take necessary steps.

Jindal appreciated the minister’s response, stating: "I thank the Minister for acknowledging the necessity. Access to safe and nutritious food is a fundamental right of every citizen. A food testing lab in Kurukshetra will benefit lakhs of people, assist farmers in adhering to food safety standards, and fortify India’s food quality framework."

Jindal’s advocacy for a food testing lab is part of a larger national initiative to improve food safety standards, enhance consumer awareness, and ensure rigorous quality checks on food products.

If realized, the Kurukshetra Food Testing Laboratory would deliver scientific testing and certification for food items, supporting farmers and food producers in meeting safety regulations. It can bolster consumer protection against adulteration and substandard food.
