Jammu, April 4 (NationPress) In response to the resolution adopted by the National Conference-led alliance in Jammu and Kashmir (J&K), which criticized the transfer of 48 JKAS officers, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha stated on Friday that his actions are well within his jurisdiction.

LG Manoj Sinha addressed the resolution passed during a significant meeting of alliance partners convened by J&K Chief Minister Omar Abdullah.

The meeting resulted in two resolutions: one opposing the Waqf (Amendment) Bill and the other condemning the LG's transfer order.

“The Government must respect the people’s mandate. We have passed resolutions urging the Government of India (GOI) to honor the will of the people,” he added.

“While we maintain a cordial relationship with the LG, this should not be mistaken for weakness,” stated Tanvir Sadiq, NC spokesperson.

“We strive to uphold dignity in governance, but this should not be interpreted as our vulnerability.”

During the meeting, the alliance partners condemned the Waqf (Amendment) Bill, labeling it as a measure targeting Muslims and other minorities.

Another resolution insisted that the Centre respect the democratic mandate of the people of Jammu and Kashmir, emphasizing the importance of not sidelining the authority of an elected government.

In his response, LG Manoj Sinha clarified, “I wish to emphasize that the J&K Reorganisation Act, 2019 was enacted by Parliament, and I have remained within the confines of that Act.”

“I am fully aware of my domain and will not overstep my boundaries.”

While the Omar Abdullah-led NC Government expressed discontent over the transfer order, sources close to the LG indicated that the officers in question possess magisterial powers related to law and order, which fall directly under the LG's office.
