Synopsis
Key Takeaways
The Centre for Distance and Online Education (CDOE) at Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI), New Delhi, has extended the application deadline for all its programmes to 8 September 2026, giving aspirants nearly a month beyond the earlier cut-off of 10 August. The extension was announced on Tuesday, 11 August, following requests from prospective applicants.
Why the Deadline Was Extended
The extension was recommended by Professor Aslam Khan, Director, CDOE, after multiple applicants sought additional time to complete their submissions. An official statement confirmed the move, noting that the university remains committed to widening access to distance and online learning.
11 New Programmes Added for 2026–27
Beyond the deadline revision, CDOE has significantly expanded its academic catalogue for the 2026–27 session. In addition to its existing 49 programmes, the centre has introduced 11 new certificate and diploma courses designed to build language, creative, and professional skills.
The newly launched certificate programmes cover languages including French, Spanish, Chinese, Persian, Arabic, and Russian, alongside courses in Photography and Video Editing, Anchoring and Broadcast Presentation, and Indian Knowledge Systems. At the diploma level, the university has introduced a Diploma in Artificial Intelligence and Digital Media and an Advanced Diploma in Conflict Analysis and Peace Building.
What the Vice-Chancellor Said
Vice-Chancellor Mazhar Asif welcomed the addition of the new programmes, underscoring the need to strengthen academic opportunities and expand JMI's reach through skill-oriented offerings. Chief Public Relations Officer Saima Saeed said the expansion forms part of the university's broader effort to widen access to distance and online education.

The entrance examination for B.Ed. and MBA (ODL) has been rescheduled from 22 August to 19 September 2026. Both tests will be conducted within the JMI campus, with the specific examination centre to be communicated via admit card.
