Jodhpur, Aug 2 (NationPress) Farmers in the Jodhpur area of Rajasthan celebrated with enthusiasm as Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced the release of the 20th installment of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) scheme. This initiative, designed to offer direct financial support to farmers, remains a crucial source of relief and empowerment for agricultural workers throughout India.
At a ceremony held at Vigyan Bhawan, Union Minister of Culture and Tourism Gajendra Singh Shekhawat and Rajasthan Cabinet Minister Jogaram Patel participated virtually alongside local farmers. PM Modi transferred ₹21,000 crore directly into the bank accounts of over 10 crore farmers nationwide.
During the event, Minister Shekhawat emphasized the importance and scale of the PM-KISAN scheme.
“With this latest installment, nearly ₹3.45 lakh has been credited to the accounts of each beneficiary farmer over the past six years. This initiative not only ensures financial stability but also enhances the agricultural sector, making it more profitable and sustainable,” he stated.
Shekhawat further noted the government’s commitment to both farmer welfare and national security.
He mentioned recent anti-terror operations, quoting PM Modi’s remarks from Kashi: “In Operation Sindoor, a terrorist hideout was dismantled; in Operation Mahadev, terrorists in Pahalgam were neutralized. This sends a powerful message — no one can challenge India’s integrity.”
Cabinet Minister Jogaram Patel also expressed his appreciation for the initiative.
“On behalf of Rajasthan's farmers, I extend my heartfelt thanks to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for releasing this installment today. It provides crucial support to our agricultural community. I also thank our Chief Minister, as Rajasthan prepares to issue the sixth installment under state-level farmer welfare initiatives.”
Farmers from Jodhpur shared their experiences with IANS, highlighting how the scheme has significantly impacted their lives.
Ganpat, a local farmer, mentioned, “This scheme has genuinely aided us. Whenever I require funds for seeds or essential supplies, I can rely on this support. I am grateful to PM Modi for considering our needs.”
Another farmer, Devaram, voiced similar sentiments.

Earlier that day, Prime Minister Modi launched and laid the foundation stone for various development projects worth around ₹2,200 crore in Uttar Pradesh's Varanasi.
