JP Nadda Emphasizes the Need for Additional Super Speciality Hospitals in the Northeast

New Delhi, Jan 8 (NationPress) The Northeast region requires additional super speciality hospitals, asserted Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare Jagat Prakash Nadda on Wednesday during the inauguration of significant healthcare facilities in Assam.
During his visit, the Union Minister toured the Lokopriya Gopinath Bordoloi Regional Institute of Mental Health (LGBRIMH), the Mangaldai District Civil Hospital, and AIIMS Guwahati to unveil new initiatives and assess ongoing healthcare projects aimed at improving medical services for the local population.
At LGBRIMH in Tezpur, the Union Health Minister inaugurated the institute’s new Library and Informatics Centre.
Nadda emphasized the need to “introduce more super speciality departments to better serve the Northeast and the nation as a whole.”
He also visited the Mangaldai District Civil Hospital in Darrang district, where he laid the foundation stone for a state-of-the-art 50-bed Critical Care Block.
This Critical Care Block, constructed with a financial investment of Rs 23.75 crore under the Prime Minister Ayushman Bharat Health Infrastructure Mission (PM-ABHIM), will substantially enhance access to advanced healthcare services for the residents of Assam.
During his time in Darrang, Nadda also inspected ongoing treatments at the cancer hospital and visited a cancer care project supported by Tata Trusts.
“Previously, residents of Assam had to travel outside the state for cancer treatment, but now, the people of Darrang can receive their treatment locally,” he remarked.
Nadda continued his visit at AIIMS Guwahati to evaluate the progress of ongoing projects at the institute. He planted a sapling on the hospital's campus, taking stock of the initiatives underway to provide superior and world-class facilities and treatment to the populace.
