Patna, April 4 (NationPress) Julie Praveen, a resident of Bihar’s Saharsa district, has emerged as a model of self-reliance. Her remarkable journey of establishing and managing a pickle business is motivating her fellow villagers to embrace entrepreneurship.

Through her pickle venture, she not only rescued her family from financial distress but also fostered positive transformations in the lives of other women by offering them jobs.

Previously, Julie's husband, Mohd Mehtab, owned a shoe and slipper business, which had to shut down due to the Covid pandemic. His sales plummeted, leading to the closure of the shop by the end of 2021, which plunged the family into a financial crisis.

Despite the challenges, Julie remained optimistic. In January 2022, she initiated a pickle-making business from a modest rented space. Initially, her earnings were only Rs 50,000 per year, but as her homemade pickles gained popularity, demand surged.

During this period, she secured a loan of Rs 2 lakh from the Chief Minister's Entrepreneur Scheme, allowing her to further expand her business. Now, Julie produces 10 quintals of pickles each month for the market.

Sharing her journey with IANS, Julie stated, "I never anticipated that the pickle-making business would grow to such an extent. Now, my aspiration is to extend this venture and create job opportunities for more women."

Mohammad Mehtab highlighted that Julie's initiative has transformed their lives.

“After our previous business collapsed, we were deeply concerned, but now we have regained our self-reliance. The initial struggles were tough, but we persevered,” he remarked.

Julie's pickles have gained fame throughout the region. She crafts twelve varieties, including red chilli bharua, mixed pickle, green chilli, amla, jackfruit, tamarind, kairi, and a special biryani pickle.

The demand for her pickles is also rising in surrounding villages and towns.

Currently, Julie employs three other women: Khalida Razia, Gulbasa, and Gulzara Praveen, paying them Rs 200 daily.

Julie Praveen’s thriving business underscores that hard work yields results. Today, she not only supports her family through her efforts but also paves the way for other women to achieve self-reliance.
