K. T. Rama Rao Takes Autorickshaw to Assembly to Spotlight Issues of Three-Wheeler Drivers

Hyderabad, Dec 18 (NationPress) Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) working president K. T. Rama Rao arrived at the Telangana State Assembly by operating an autorickshaw, aiming to shed light on the difficulties encountered by autorickshaw drivers due to the recent implementation of the free bus travel scheme by the Congress government in the state.
Other MLAs and MLCs from BRS also made their way to the Assembly and Council in three-wheelers, donning khaki shirts as a gesture of support for the autorickshaw drivers.
The legislators from the principal opposition party arrived at the Legislature complex in a rally that began from MLA Quarters, carrying placards and chanting slogans to draw the government's attention.
They urged the Congress government to fulfill the commitments made to the autorickshaw drivers.
Speaking to the media, Rama Rao remarked that during the election campaign, the Congress party made numerous pledges to 800,000 auto drivers, none of which have been honored.
"The tragic suicides of 93 auto drivers in the state represent government-induced calamities," stated KTR, as he is commonly known.
The BRS leader noted that they had submitted a list of auto drivers who committed suicide during earlier Assembly sessions, yet the state government continues to show indifference.
KTR insisted that the government must swiftly assist the families of auto drivers who have died by suicide.
"The government, which exploited auto drivers for electoral benefits, has disregarded all promises made to them," he added, asserting that the financial support of Rs 12,000 pledged to auto drivers should be announced without delay.
The assurance to create a welfare board for auto drivers must be honored promptly, the former minister emphasized.
He urged autorickshaw drivers to refrain from suicide and assured that the BRS party would advocate for their rights.
"In support of auto drivers, we are proceeding to the Assembly in autorickshaws, wearing their uniforms. The BRS party stands united with auto drivers and will persist in fighting for their rights," KTR concluded.
