Bhopal, March 17 (NationPress) Former Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh Kamal Nath organized a dinner for Congress MLAs and esteemed party officials at his residence in Bhopal on Monday evening.
In addition to the current Congress MLAs, several prominent figures such as state Congress President Jitu Patwari, former Union Minister Kantilal Bhuria, former Leader of Opposition Govind Singh, and ex-minister Kamleshwar Patel attended the dinner gathering.
This event marks possibly the first occasion that Kamal Nath hosted a dinner for Congress leaders at his bungalow situated in Bhopal's Shyamla Hills following an embarrassing electoral defeat suffered by the party under his leadership in November 2023.
After that setback, Kamal Nath resigned from his role as state Congress president, with Jitu Patwari taking over the position in December 2023. Prior to this gathering, veteran Congress leader Kamal Nath, who represents his hometown Chhindwara as an MLA, was actively engaged in the ongoing budget session of the Madhya Pradesh Legislative Assembly.
During a conversation with journalists at the Vidhan Sabha, Kamal Nath highlighted that incidents of mob lynching and assaults on police personnel have become increasingly frequent in the state, branding the current state of affairs as anarchy under the BJP administration. This comment followed a series of recent violent occurrences against police officers, particularly the tragic incident in Mauganj where an Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) lost his life to an enraged mob on March 15.
"Madhya Pradesh has turned into the epicenter of lawlessness, and the entire nation is observing this anarchy unfold. Corruption within the governance framework has reached unprecedented levels, and this is the harsh truth of BJP-ruled Madhya Pradesh," Kamal Nath stated.
He also pointed out the persistent friction between the police and lawyers in Indore since the incident that transpired during Holi.
"The citizens of the state deserve to understand why the law and order situation has declined so drastically. On one hand, lawyers well-versed in law and the Constitution are protesting due to a lack of justice; on the other side, police officers are concerned for their safety. My unequivocal demand is for an unbiased investigation to be conducted, and stringent measures to be taken against anyone found guilty," he asserted.
