Bengaluru, Aug 5 (NationPress) The Karnataka BJP chapter has filed a police complaint at the Upparpet Police Station in Bengaluru, claiming that a compound wall was demolished and trees were cut down to pave the way for a Congress party protest led by the Leader of the Opposition (LoP) in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi. This protest addresses concerns regarding alleged election fraud at Freedom Park.
A delegation from the BJP, headed by Bengaluru Central District President Sapthagiri Gowda, submitted two distinct complaints at the police station.
“Rahul Gandhi, the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, is set to join the Congress party's protest rally about alleged election fraud on August 8 at Freedom Park in Bengaluru.
“In advance of the event, the organizers have dismantled the compound wall of Freedom Park, which has resulted in damage to public property,” the complaint noted.
“They have caused public inconvenience by tearing down the wall without notifying the authorities or securing the required permissions. For the sake of a party event and personal gain, a long-standing compound wall at Freedom Park has been removed,” Sapthagiri Gowda asserted.
“The act of demolishing a compound wall without authorization and constructing a concrete road is unlawful. Measures should be taken against the organizers for abuse of power, as well as the officials who permitted it,” Gowda insisted.
In another complaint, Gowda claimed that a significant tree within the grounds of Freedom Park was cut down to make room for the political gathering. He argued that this action was taken for political self-interest, devoid of any public benefit, and called for legal action against both the organizers and the relevant authorities.
The Congress party is orchestrating the protest event, led by LoP Rahul Gandhi, on August 8 at the historic Freedom Park in Bengaluru, with expectations of attendance from prominent national leaders of the Congress party. The goal is to highlight national concerns over Gandhi's allegations of election fraud.
The ruling Congress party has made significant preparations for a large-scale protest at the venue.
This protest was initially slated for August 5 but has been rescheduled to August 8 due to the passing of former Jharkhand Chief Minister Shibu Soren.
