Bengaluru, April 13 (NationPress) The Karnataka branch of the Bharatiya Janata Party has unveiled a range of activities throughout the state from April 13 to April 20 in celebration of the birth anniversary of the Constitution's architect, Bharat Ratna B. R. Ambedkar.
During a press briefing at the BJP state headquarters, "Jagannath Bhavan" in Bengaluru, former Deputy Chief Minister and BJP MP Govind Karjol stated that directives have been issued to arrange Ambedkar Jayanti festivities in every district and taluk across Karnataka.
Karjol emphasized that Ambedkar was not just the creator of the Constitution but also a champion of social justice and a representation of equality. He remarked that Ambedkar laid the groundwork for a progressive nation long ago.
Discussing national initiatives, he mentioned that PM Modi has developed five significant sites related to Ambedkar’s legacy as ‘Panchteerth’. He also pointed out that the observance of Constitution Day reflects the Prime Minister's respect for Ambedkar.
Karjol further noted that Ambedkar was a promoter of social unity and dedicated his life to uplifting the marginalized. He asserted that the entire nation owes him a debt of gratitude and should consistently honor his legacy.
Meanwhile, Jagadish Hiremani, a member of the Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Birth Anniversary National Committee and former state secretary of the Bharatiya Janata Party, stated that various events would be arranged across the state from April 13 to April 20 to disseminate Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar's ideology.
He indicated that Ambedkar’s birth anniversary is celebrated with immense zeal nationwide. A national celebration committee has also been formed under the leadership of the BJP national president.
Hiremani announced that statues, memorials, and roads associated with Ambedkar across the state would be cleaned, with commemorative events scheduled for the evening. The "Bhima Deepotsava" programs will also be held as part of the celebrations.
He disclosed that activities would take place in all taluk and district centers statewide. In Bengaluru, a Deepotsava is planned in front of Ambedkar’s statue near Halasuru Lake, with similar "Bhima Deepotsava" events occurring across the state.
Furthermore, around 58,000 booth-level committee members will pay floral tributes to a portrait of Babasaheb Ambedkar on Monday.
From April 15 to 20, programs will also be conducted in district centers to educate the public about Ambedkar’s contributions to the nation and society, he added.
In response to Congress leaders’ assertions that the Constitution is under threat, Hiremani stated that the public will be informed about how Congress has historically disrespected Ambedkar.
He also mentioned that seminars, discussions, social media campaigns, including videos and short films, and pamphlet distribution will be implemented to promote PM Modi’s ‘Panchteerth’ initiative and efforts to honor the Constitution's architect.
Moreover, he stated that Ambedkar’s ideology would be taken to hostels, Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe communities, upper-caste localities, and all segments of society through these initiatives.
Highlighting Ambedkar’s enduring legacy, he noted that, based on the Constitution he crafted, PM Modi is advancing the agenda for 33 percent reservation for women nationwide.
He concluded by stating that Ambedkar had long advocated for equality, and contemporary women’s empowerment initiatives serve as a tribute to his vision.
Former state secretary Jagadish Hiremani, Bagalkote district president Shantagouda Patil, Scheduled Caste Morcha state office secretary Prashanth Kumar, and Scheduled Caste Morcha Bengaluru Central district president Annayya were present at the event.
