Belagavi, April 15 (NationPress) The Karnataka BJP conducted a concluding ceremony for the centenary celebration of ‘Bheema Hejje’ on Tuesday, commemorating B.R. Ambedkar’s visit to Nippani town in the Belagavi district.
The party organized a grand convention in Nippani town to celebrate this significant event.
The final ceremony of the ‘Bheema Hejje 100 Celebration’, which occurred from April 11 to 14 to honor 100 years since B. R. Ambedkar visited Nippani, took place at the Municipal High School grounds in Nippani.
While addressing the crowd, BJP State President and MLA B. Y. Vijayendra stated that the Congress lacks influence in the nation and that Congress leaders only recall B. R. Ambedkar and the Constitution for political gain.
He accused the Congress of invoking Ambedkar's name solely for electoral advantages.
Additionally, he claimed that the Congress party, which governed for nearly six decades, consistently disrespected Ambedkar.
“It was at the insistence of former PM late Atal Bihari Vajpayee that the V. P. Singh government honored Ambedkar with the Bharat Ratna,” he remarked.
He also criticized the Congress government for failing to provide space in Delhi for Ambedkar's funeral.
Former Deputy Chief Minister Govind Karjol echoed this sentiment, asserting that the Congress was responsible for B.R. Ambedkar losing two Lok Sabha elections.
Karjol mentioned that during his lifetime, Dr. Ambedkar was neither awarded the Bharat Ratna nor given the respect he deserved. “The Congress is similarly disregarding Mallikarjun Kharge,” he claimed.
He further alleged that the Congress had conspired to defeat Babu Jagjivan Ram as well.
Quoting Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Karjol recalled that it was only because of Ambedkar’s Constitution that an ordinary individual like him could ascend to the position of Prime Minister.
Meanwhile, Leader of the Opposition R. Ashoka remarked that when B. R. Ambedkar passed away, the Congress party committed a grave sin by not allocating a mere six by three feet space for his funeral.
