Bengaluru, Dec 24 (NationPress) Following the successful outcome in the town panchayat elections across multiple districts, the Karnataka Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) declared on Wednesday that these election results signify the party's potential comeback in the state.

During a press briefing at the state BJP headquarters, Jagannath Bhavan, situated in the Malleswaram area of Bengaluru Urban district, N. Ravikumar, the Opposition's Chief Whip in the Legislative Council and a prominent BJP figure, stated, "Analyzing the results from the town panchayat elections, it is evident that the BJP is poised to regain power in Karnataka in the near future."

He pointed out that elections were conducted for 76 wards across four town panchayats, where the BJP clinched 48 seats, while the Congress secured 23, the Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI) won three, and Independents garnered two.

Ravikumar also mentioned that the BJP triumphed in both wards contested in the Raichur and Bengaluru Rural districts.

"In total, including by-elections, the BJP achieved a commendable tally of 50 seats," he remarked.

He noted that the Congress currently holds power in Karnataka, featuring a Chief Minister, a Deputy Chief Minister, and a complete Cabinet of 33 Ministers.

"Is this your (Congress) accomplishment?" he queried, highlighting the BJP's win of 50 out of 76 seats.

Ravikumar further criticized the Congress-led Karnataka administration, asserting that no matter how many promises are made, they will fail to materialize due to the state’s lack of developmental progress.

"Salaries are delayed, there is an acute shortage of lecturers in educational institutions, and the roads throughout the state are plagued with potholes," the BJP leader alleged.

BJP State President and MLA B.Y. Vijayendra expressed joy over the party's achievement in four town panchayats statewide.

He noted that the BJP earned a majority in the Bashettihalli town panchayat elections in Doddaballapur taluk.

"Moreover, our candidate also emerged victorious in one seat of the Doddaballapur City Municipal Council election," he added.

Vijayendra indicated that the BJP also dominated town panchayat elections in Bajpe and Kinnigoli in the Dakshina Kannada district, as well as in Manki located in the Uttara Kannada district.

He also mentioned that the BJP candidate won the by-election for Ward No. 4 of the Turvihal Town Panchayat in Raichur district and congratulated all the victorious candidates.

"This remarkable victory in local body elections stands as a strong rebuttal from the electorate to the shortcomings of the ruling Congress government's policies. Our party is dedicated to the holistic development of these constituencies," Vijayendra stated.

In a post on their official X account, the Karnataka BJP expressed gratitude to all voters who chose development in the town panchayat and local body by-elections, unfazed by the Congress government’s guarantee schemes.

"The BJP's young leadership diligently worked for the success of our party workers, leading to this achievement in the town panchayat and local body by-elections. Congratulations to all BJP candidates who won, along with the office-bearers, leaders, and party workers who exerted great effort to secure this victory," the statement concluded.

Point of View

The recent election results in Karnataka suggest a potential shift in the political landscape. The BJP's significant victories indicate growing discontent with the current Congress government.
