Bengaluru, Jan 15 (NationPress) The Karnataka BJP staged a protest on Wednesday against cruelty towards cows, during which dung was smeared on images of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and State Animal Husbandry Minister K. Venkatesh.
The demonstration, led by the BJP Farmers' Wing, took place at Freedom Park in Bengaluru, where participants shouted slogans like 'Protect and Save Cows'.
BJP Farmers' Wing State Secretary Satish Kadatanamale denounced the abhorrent act of mutilating cow udders, asserting that it has deeply wounded the sentiments of millions of Hindus.
Kadatanamale explained that the dung was applied to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah's image to 'purify their polluted minds' and to prompt them to consider the importance of protecting cows.
He expressed hope that this symbolic act would induce a change in their perspective towards the protection of cows and the respect for Hindu beliefs.
Kadatanamale criticized the Siddaramaiah administration, accusing it of failing to fulfill its duties.
He condemned the recent incidents of cow cruelty and called for the arrest of those who supported and facilitated such atrocious acts.
Furthermore, he admonished Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Minister Venkatesh for earlier comments regarding cow slaughter, which he claimed profoundly offended cattle rearers and Hindus.
He also took issue with the government's decision to withdraw funding for 'goshalas' (cow shelters), labeling it as a failure in cow protection.
The rally saw participation from BJP Farmers' Wing leaders, including Bengaluru South District President Ashok Muksandra, various officials, notable figures, and activists.
On January 12, three cows had their udders slashed by miscreants at Vinayak Nagar within the Cottonpet Police Station jurisdiction in Bengaluru.
On Monday, Karnataka Police apprehended one suspect linked to the cow attacks.
During the investigation, the accused, identified as Sheikh Nasru, a 30-year-old from Champaran District in Bihar, was revealed to have committed the heinous act while intoxicated.
