Karnataka Congress Dismisses Gurappa Naidu Amid Sexual Harassment Allegations

Bengaluru, Nov 30 (NationPress) The Congress party in Karnataka has officially dismissed State General Secretary Gurappa Naidu on Saturday after serious allegations of sexual harassment came to light.
The order for his expulsion was issued by K. Rahman Khan, the Chairman of the Disciplinary Committee of the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC).
According to the order, "In light of the sexual harassment case filed against State General Secretary Gurappa Naidu, he has been expelled from the primary membership of the party for a duration of six years."
The Karnataka police filed a First Information Report (FIR) against the State Congress office bearer concerning claims of sexually harassing a teacher at a school he operates in Bengaluru on Thursday. The complaint has been lodged with the Chennammanakere Achukattu police station against Gurappa Naidu, who serves as the state Congress General Secretary and also chairs the BGS Bloom School.
The police have initiated a case under various sections of the Indian Penal Code, including IPC Sections 354 (a) (sexual harassment), 354 (assault or criminal force against a woman with the intent to outrage her modesty), 506 (criminal intimidation), 504 (intentional insults that provoke a breach of the peace), and 509 (acts, words, or gestures that insult a woman's modesty). These alleged incidents reportedly occurred between 2021 and 2023.
In her police statement, the victim recounted, “Accused Gurappa Naidu exploited vulnerable women staff at his school. He has been manipulating and also raping them, often recording these acts to blackmail them.”
A teacher working at the accused's school revealed that over 75 percent of the staff are women from economically disadvantaged backgrounds, many of whom have children enrolled at the same institution.
In her complaint, the victim described Gurappa Naidu as a psychotic womanizer who harasses women and spares no one. The atmosphere at the school is one of fear due to his behavior, as he uses women as he pleases.
“The accused creates vulgar and nude videos of women to blackmail them, threatening to make these videos public if they do not comply with his demands. He also intimidates female staffers who consider filing police complaints,” the victim stated.
The victim further expressed, “Gurappa Naidu has taken advantage of numerous women from poor and marginalized communities. They live in constant fear and trauma. Even though many teachers contemplated filing a complaint, they ultimately chose not to, fearing his influence and potential repercussions for their families.”
“I have been employed at the school for three years. The accused frequently summoned me to his office and asked inappropriate questions about when I would be 'ready.' His lingering gaze caused me severe mental distress,” she mentioned.
“Gurappa Naidu's conduct was offensive. He spoke inappropriately and dragged me into his chamber. When I resisted his advances, he became angry and claimed that everyone else was cooperating with him, implying that I was not grateful for his attention,” the victim added.
“He even went so far as to question whether I was born to a single father, using this as a means to belittle me. This made me cry, prompting me to leave the school in distress,” she recalled.
“Upon returning home in tears, my mother questioned me about my distress, and I revealed the trauma I was enduring. She advised me against returning to that workplace. I continue to feel threatened and fearful following the incident. It took me months to regain my composure. The memories of my traumatic experiences still haunt me. Despite knowing that many teachers and staff have faced similar exploitation, no one seems willing to come forward,” she concluded.
