Hyderabad, Sep 9 (NationPress) K. Kavitha, the President of Telangana Jagruthi and former member of the BRS, publicly endorsed the candidacy of B. Sudershan Reddy, a former Supreme Court judge, for the Vice-Presidential election on Tuesday. Kavitha, who left the BRS last week following her suspension, expressed confidence that Reddy would enhance the dignity of the Vice-Presidential office if elected.
As the daughter of K. Chandrasekhar Rao (KCR), the President of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) and former Chief Minister, Kavitha's support for Reddy, a candidate from the INDIA bloc, marks a significant political stance. In her address at the Telangana Jagruthi office, she praised Reddy as an intellectual who has made significant contributions through his judgements during his tenure as a Supreme Court judge.
Kavitha highlighted the broad backing Reddy has received from the opposition, stating, "The aspiration to see Mr. Sudershan Reddy as Vice-President is undeniably a positive regional ambition." She urged her supporters to transcend party affiliations to back Reddy, emphasizing his roots in Telangana.
This endorsement diverges sharply from the BRS's decision to abstain from the vote. Kavitha noted that before T. N. Seshan became the Chief Election Commissioner, many were unaware of the Election Commission's importance. She believes that, much like Seshan, Justice Reddy would uphold the esteemed nature of the Vice-Presidential role through his constitutional knowledge.
Furthermore, Kavitha pledged to advance KCR's agenda through Telangana Jagruthi. She remains in dialogue with her supporters, intellectuals, and community members to pursue initiatives grounded in strong values for the greater good.
She reiterated that the workers of Telangana Jagruthi are committed to realizing the vision of a ‘social Telangana.’ "We will unite everyone to achieve a socially inclusive Telangana," she asserted.
Kavitha also criticized the Congress government for alleged corruption in the Godavari water project intended for Hyderabad, claiming that Chief Minister A. Revant Reddy colluded with Megha Krishna Reddy to inflate costs dramatically.
She questioned why the project, initially estimated at ₹1,500 crore, was awarded to Megha Company at ₹7,360 crore, and why it was relocated to Mallanna Sagar instead of utilizing the closer Kondapochamma Sagar for water sourcing.
