Hyderabad, Sep 23 (NationPress) The president of Telangana Jagruthi, K. Kavitha, has called on the Congress government in Telangana to make public the details of the caste census for each gram panchayat prior to setting the dates for the local body elections.
Kavitha has accused the administration of plotting to finalize reservations for Backward Classes (BCs) without disclosing the findings of the caste census survey.
In a statement on 'X', she asserted that the Congress party is trying to finalize reservations in regions they believe will benefit them. She emphasized that the government should demonstrate its commitment by revealing the caste census details before local body elections are scheduled.
"If elections are conducted hastily for political gain, it would be a disservice to the BCs. The caste census information must be shared for every gram panchayat," Kavitha stated.
"Telangana Jagruthi has consistently worked diligently to enhance BC reservations and will persist in this fight until there is an increase in reservations for BCs," she added.
Kavitha, who stepped down from the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) earlier this month following her suspension by party president and her father, K. Chandrasekhar Rao (KCR), is set to visit Mancherial district later today to take part in the Bathukamma festivities.
On Monday, she attended the 'Bathukamma' celebrations at the Telangana Jagruthi office in Hyderabad.
Since establishing Telangana Jagruthi to promote cultural awareness in the movement for a separate Telangana State, Kavitha has been actively involved in Bathukamma celebrations.
Bathukamma, the state festival of Telangana, began on Sunday. This festival, cherished as a representation of Telangana's culture, is celebrated with great enthusiasm by women over nine days.
During this festival, nature is revered. Women and girls engage in singing and dancing around carefully arranged flowers. At the festival's conclusion, they immerse the specially arranged flowers known as 'Bathukamma' in local ponds.
Bathukamma has been celebrated as the state festival since the establishment of Telangana State in 2014.
