New Delhi, March 28 (NationPress) Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva remarked on Saturday that Arvind Kejriwal, the national convenor of the Aam Aadmi Party, has reverted to the trivial politics of employing the "victim card", particularly concerning a judicial issue tied to the excise policy.

Sachdeva emphasized that in India, the CBI and various investigative bodies operate independently to conduct inquiries and initiate legal proceedings based on their findings.

Furthermore, all courts and judges in India are autonomous in delivering verdicts impartially, guided by their own judgment.

However, Kejriwal and his fellow party members must recognize that if an investigative agency is confident in its evidence, it can appeal a lower court's ruling in the High Court, which holds the power to reverse lower court decisions.

Pointing to the latest updates from the trial court regarding the excise policy case, Sachdeva noted that the real issue with Kejriwal is his consistent disrespect for the judiciary, judges, and the legal process, as he only regards decisions that favor him as justice.

He added that it would have been wiser for Kejriwal to have attentively considered the recent TV remarks made by Union Home Minister Amit Shah rather than rushing to play the "victim card".

In his eagerness to portray himself as a victim, Kejriwal has made himself a target of mockery, Sachdeva said.

Sachdeva pointed out that the Union Home Minister had merely asserted that the CBI’s case is robust, with solid evidence, and expressed confidence in a favorable outcome for the CBI in the High Court.

“Had Kejriwal listened more intently before reacting, he could have avoided becoming a figure of ridicule today,” noted Sachdeva.

Additionally, Delhi BJP Spokesperson Praveen Shankar Kapoor criticized Kejriwal and other AAP leaders for their tendency to engage in forum shopping whenever they face unfavorable judicial outcomes.

Kapoor stated that AAP leaders such as Rakhi Bidlan and Saurabh Bharadwaj display double standards on numerous issues, including their attitude towards the judiciary.

“Isn't seeking a court transfer an insult to the judicial system?” Kapoor questioned, referencing the AAP leaders who are pursuing a bench transfer in the appeal related to the excise policy case.

“It’s essential for AAP leaders to acknowledge that the trial court is not the final authority. In the Indian judicial framework, each court has an appellate process until the matter reaches the Supreme Court,” Kapoor concluded.

Point of View

Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva's remarks reflect a significant criticism of Arvind Kejriwal's approach to judicial matters. The ongoing tug-of-war between political leaders and the judiciary raises critical questions about respect for legal processes and the implications of political maneuvering in the face of legal scrutiny.
