Delhi BJP Chief Claims Raghav Chadha is a Victim of Kejriwal's Chaos

Key Takeaways
New Delhi, April 2 (NationPress) – The President of the Delhi Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Virendra Sachdeva, stated on Thursday that while it's within the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leadership's rights to designate its Parliamentary group leaders, the decision to replace MP Raghav Chadha as the Deputy Leader in the Rajya Sabha is indicative of Arvind Kejriwal's chaotic governance.
Sachdeva pointed out that Chadha's removal from his position in the Upper House, along with the AAP's request to the Rajya Sabha Secretariat to prevent him from speaking, is a clear reflection of the turmoil within the party.
According to Sachdeva, Chadha is facing consequences for distancing himself from the corrupt and anarchic leadership of AAP's Convenor, Kejriwal. He emphasized that not only Chadha but also AAP’s Rajya Sabha MP Swati Maliwal have been subjected to poor treatment under the weak leadership of Kejriwal, who lacks the courage to confront political opposition both internally and externally.
Sachdeva highlighted that both Maliwal and Chadha were instrumental in establishing the AAP but have since distanced themselves from Kejriwal and the party's daily operations.
In a critique of Kejriwal's alleged anarchist and corrupt tendencies, the Delhi BJP President remarked that it would have been more honorable for Kejriwal to formally expel Rajya Sabha MPs Maliwal and Chadha from the party.
Nearly a year ago, Maliwal had a fallout with AAP's leadership, reportedly facing pressure to relinquish her Rajya Sabha seat.
As of now, Maliwal continues to serve as an AAP MP in the Rajya Sabha.
Earlier on Thursday, AAP appointed its Punjab lawmaker, Ashok Mittal, as the new Deputy Leader in the Rajya Sabha.
The Kejriwal-led AAP has reportedly contacted the Rajya Sabha Secretariat, requesting that no speaking time be allotted to Raghav Chadha, the outgoing Deputy Leader.
In recent months, Chadha has been vocal about various public issues and the challenges faced by citizens.
He has raised concerns about the situation of gig workers and has been a notable advocate for consumer rights related to internet data plans from telecom companies.
Currently, Sanjay Singh serves as the AAP's leader in the Rajya Sabha and chairs the AAP Parliamentary Party.
The AAP holds 10 seats in the Upper House, primarily representing Punjab, where it governs.
Among these 10 MPs, seven hail from Punjab: Raghav Chadha, Rajinder Gupta, Ashok Kumar Mittal, Sandeep Kumar Pathak, Vikramjit Singh Sahney, Harbhajan Singh, and Sant Balbir Singh.
The AAP's representatives from Delhi in the Upper House include Swati Maliwal, Narain Dass Gupta, and Sanjay Singh.
