BJP Critiques AAP Amid Raghav Chadha Controversy
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
New Delhi, April 3 (NationPress) Amid ongoing political upheaval regarding the ousting of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MP Raghav Chadha from his position as Deputy Leader in the Rajya Sabha, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has taken the opportunity to launch a scathing critique against both the party and its leader, Arvind Kejriwal, labeling him as insecure and describing AAP as a 'liphafa party'.
BJP National Spokesperson Shazia Ilmi expressed that she was neither shocked nor found anything out of the ordinary in this situation.
"This is typical of the Aam Aadmi Party’s political maneuvering. Anyone who does not demonstrate absolute loyalty—or what I would term as sycophancy—is promptly dismissed. They cannot expel Raghav Chadha now since he is a Rajya Sabha MP and will fulfill his term unless he chooses to resign, which is unlikely," she stated.
Pointing fingers at AAP Chief Kejriwal, Ilmi remarked to IANS, "Perhaps Arvind Kejriwal feels some insecurities regarding Raghav Chadha, as he perceives that Chadha is gaining prominence. Discussions are swirling around him. Kejriwal only accommodates individuals who lack their own identity."
Furthermore, the BJP spokesperson raised a question about why AAP leader Sanjay Singh was not appointed to the position.
BJP MLA Tarvinder Singh Marwah reiterated the notion of AAP as a 'liphafa party', asserting, "Arvind Kejriwal’s party resembles a liphafa—when it falls apart, the party faces its end. Today, we witness this with Kejriwal, who perceives himself as a king, viewing the citizens of Delhi as his subjects. Now that he has been dethroned, he appears disoriented and starts questioning his own ranks."
Amid speculation regarding Raghav Chadha’s potential alignment with the BJP, Marwah stated to IANS, "The BJP does not require such leaders, nor do we compel anyone to join our ranks."
Sanjay Nirupam from Shiv Sena accused AAP of taking this action because Raghav Chadha did not back Kejriwal during his incarceration related to the Delhi excise policy case.
"When Arvind Kejriwal was imprisoned concerning the liquor policy and other matters, Raghav Chadha perhaps did not publicly support him. While others hailed him as honest, he chose not to. Those who endorse corruption are taking measures against the honest," he remarked to IANS.
Shiv Sena’s Shaina NC pointed out that despite Kejriwal’s constant references to the Aam Aadmi Party, it seems more aligned with being a 'khaas aadmi' party.
In the meantime, Trinamool Congress MP Saugata Roy expressed disappointment in AAP MP Raghav Chadha following his issuance of a video statement on Friday morning, claiming he was being suppressed for voicing the concerns of the populace.
Roy questioned, "Is Raghav Chadha truly a politician? He remains in Arvind Kejriwal’s shadow. Has he ever engaged in grassroots politics? Has he secured a victory in any municipal election? His statements seem to be driven by a desire for publicity, which won’t have any significant impact."
Subsequently, AAP has appointed Ashok Mittal in place of Raghav Chadha.
