New Delhi, Jan 21 (NationPress) BJP leader and Vice-Chairman of the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) Kuljeet Singh Chahal criticized AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal for neglecting the issues faced by voters in New Delhi, particularly by not taking the oath as a member of the civic body.

Chahal emphasized that although Kejriwal was elected as the MLA of New Delhi in 2020, he has yet to take the oath for the NDMC.

Chahal stated, "The citizens of New Delhi have chosen him three times, yet Kejriwal has consistently evaded his duties. He has failed to address the concerns of NDMC employees or implement any substantial measures for their welfare."

He pointed out that under Kejriwal's administration, residents in the NDMC area have encountered numerous challenges concerning basic services.

"Despite holding the position of MLA for New Delhi, Kejriwal has shown little regard for essential services that ought to be delivered to the populace. Issues such as water supply, waterlogging, and pollution remain unresolved, significantly impacting the community," he remarked.

Chahal indicated that Kejriwal participated in only 53 percent of Council meetings during his time as an MLA. "This illustrates his neglectful and indifferent stance towards New Delhi and its residents," he added.

From 2014 to 2024, there were 126 NDMC council meetings, where Kejriwal was a member in 122 and attended only 65.

Chahal noted that Kejriwal missed 57 meetings over his decade-long tenure, stating that the former Chief Minister was often absent or left early when he did attend.

He remarked, "Kejriwal's refusal to take the oath as an NDMC member has raised significant concerns among New Delhi's populace. The public deserves to know how committed and serious their elected officials are in serving them."

Chahal affirmed that with the backing of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah, 4,500 NDMC employees were regularized, ensuring job security for them and their families. In contrast, many employees remain unregularized under Kejriwal's Delhi government.

He further alleged that Kejriwal has overlooked the needs of New Delhi and hindered the NDMC's progress.

“Crucial initiatives, such as the 24x7 water supply project, have remained uncompleted due to insufficient cooperation from the Delhi government, causing considerable hardship for the public,” he concluded.
