New Delhi, Feb 16 (NationPress) The Delhi Assembly’s Committee of Privileges has issued a final opportunity for former Chief Minister and National Convenor of the Aam Aadmi Party, Arvind Kejriwal, along with other AAP leaders, to personally appear and provide their statements concerning the ‘Faansi Ghar’ matter on March 6, according to an official announcement.
In response to a request made by Kejriwal for a hearing during the first week of March, the Committee has scheduled this conclusive appearance for March 6, as stated by an official release.
This decision was made during a meeting held on Monday, which was convened to discuss the situation after four individuals, including Kejriwal, Manish Sisodia, Ram Niwas Goel, and Rakhi Birla, submitted written responses asking for a few days' extension to record their statements.
Chairperson of the Committee of Privileges, Pradyumn Singh Rajput, noted that Kejriwal requested to appear on any date between March 2 and March 6.
Likewise, former Deputy CM Sisodia, former Speaker Goel, and former Deputy Speaker Birla also submitted requests for a brief extension, echoing the timeline proposed by Kejriwal, Rajput mentioned.
The Committee acknowledged these requests and set the final date to ensure the inquiry moves forward without unnecessary delays, according to the release.
This issue was initially raised by Delhi Assembly Speaker Vijender Gupta and pertains to the legitimacy of the ‘Faansi Ghar’ inaugurated on August 9, 2022, within the premises of the Delhi Legislative Assembly.
The Committee of Privileges was tasked with investigating this issue to facilitate a factual and procedural evaluation of the events surrounding the inauguration.
The Committee includes Chairperson Pradyumn Singh Rajput, Surya Prakash Khatri, Abhay Kumar Verma, Ajay Kumar Mahawar, Satish Upadhyay, Neeraj Basoya, Ravi Kant, Ram Singh Netaji, and Surender Kumar.
