Kerala Governor Arif Mohammed Khan: Bhagavad Gita as a Universal Guide for Humanity's Welfare

Chandigarh, Dec 6 (NationPress) Kerala Governor Arif Mohammed Khan stated that the Bhagavad Gita, a fundamental aspect of India's cultural legacy, serves as a scripture dedicated to the welfare of humanity.

He addressed attendees on Thursday during the ninth International Gita Conference, which focused on the theme "Balanced Nature-Pure Environment Based on Srimad Bhagavad Gita," taking place at Kurukshetra University in Haryana as part of the International Gita Mahotsav.

Haryana Governor Bandaru Dattatreya emphasized the Gita's teachings regarding environmental stewardship. He referred to it as a divine text that provides solutions to the challenges faced in human life.

Dattatreya, who additionally holds the position of Chancellor at Kurukshetra University, inaugurated the conference by lighting a lamp and unveiling a commemorative souvenir.

Governor Khan underscored the Gita's significance in the realm of environmental conservation.

He urged the dissemination of its teachings globally, highlighting that the scripture embodies the core principles of the Upanishads and Vedic texts, symbolizing India's unity and integrity.

Swami Gyananand Maharaj, a scholar of the Gita, reaffirmed that the Bhagavad Gita carries a universal message regarding environmental protection. He remarked that Kurukshetra, the birthplace of these teachings, is a revered land.

The Gita offers solutions to life's dilemmas through the principle of balance, he added.

Uttarakhand Governor Lieutenant General Gurmit Singh (retd) expressed pride in upholding cultural values and commended the initiative to celebrate the richness of Haryanvi traditions.

Singh mentioned that a visit to Kurukshetra evokes a profound sense of fulfillment.

The 18-day International Gita Mahotsav aims to deepen people's understanding of the Gita's teachings, offering guidance through life's uncertainties and crises.

This year's International Gita Mahotsav was inaugurated by Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on the banks of Brahmasarovar in Kurukshetra.

Tanzania serves as the partner country, while Odisha is the partner state for this event, which runs from November 28 to December 15. The main festivities are scheduled between December 5 and December 11.

Haryana Governor Dattatreya inaugurated the Haryana Pavilion at Purushottampura Bagh along the banks of Brahmasarovar, showcasing Haryanvi culture through vibrant folk art and heritage.

Dattatreya praised Kurukshetra University's endeavors to promote Haryanvi culture on a global scale.

Kerala Governor Khan highlighted its significance in educating the youth about Haryana's ancient culture and heritage.

The pavilion embodies the essence of Haryanvi culture for an international audience as part of the International Gita Mahotsav celebrations.

It acts as an educational resource for younger generations regarding Haryana's rich traditions.
