Thiruvananthapuram, Feb 25 (NationPress) Intense efforts are underway to bring Rahim -- the father of 23-year-old Kerala youth Affan, who brutally murdered four of his relatives along with his 22-year-old girlfriend.

Currently, Rahim is in Saudi Arabia and cannot travel due to issues with his documentation.

In a statement to the press, he mentioned that various organizations in Saudi Arabia are working to rectify his papers as he has been without a visa for the past two and a half years.

“Either my documents need renewal or a fine must be settled. I am hopeful that everything will be resolved and I will be able to travel,” Rahim stated.

Nass Vakkom, who is facilitating the travel arrangements, expressed optimism that Rahim would be able to travel by Sunday at the latest.

In a horrific series of events that began at 10 a.m. on Monday and continued until approximately 5:30 p.m., Affan took the lives of his girlfriend, younger brother, grandmother, and his father's sister along with her husband Lateef.

His mother remains in critical condition at the local hospital.

Shyam Sundar, the South Zone Inspector General of Police overseeing the investigation, indicated that the true motive behind the crime is being uncovered.

A specialized team made up of senior officials has initiated the investigation, and it is progressing positively, according to Sundar.

The police investigation has revealed that Affan was under the influence of drugs during the crimes. He reportedly traveled 25 km across his locality, committing murders at three different residences in Venjaramoodu, on the outskirts of the capital.

In a significant development, the police have recovered the hammer used by Affan to strike the victims.

Affan confessed to the police that he killed his girlfriend Farzana because he wished for her not to live any longer.

“I saw Farzana's body, and her face was unrecognizable,” remarked a local.

According to preliminary police findings, Affan is currently receiving treatment at the state-run Medical College Hospital.

After surrendering, he informed officers that he had ingested poison following the gruesome murders.

At present, he is in police custody within the hospital, where he is not cooperating with the investigation while receiving medical care.

Despite confessing that his family’s significant financial burdens led to the crime, the police remain skeptical of Affan's claims.

The community is still reeling from the shock of the murders, which occurred across three homes within two distinct police jurisdictions.

Affan's close friend expressed disbelief, recounting how Affan appeared normal after the killings when they met by chance.

At that moment, Affan reassured his friend that he would return shortly due to urgent matters.

Affan later stunned local authorities by walking into the police station to report that he had killed six individuals, mistakenly believing his mother was among them.

According to police reports, Affan's father operates a spare parts business abroad that suffered heavy losses, leading to significant debts. He has not returned home in five years.

With the business in dire straits, creditors began to harass Affan, exacerbating the situation.
