Thiruvananthapuram, Feb 28 (NationPress) After a seven-year absence, Rahim returned home from Saudi Arabia on Friday morning, only to be overwhelmed with grief upon seeing his family. Affan, his 23-year-old son, stands as the only suspect in the tragic murders of four relatives, including his 22-year-old girlfriend.
Affan committed the horrific act by brutally killing his 13-year-old brother, his girlfriend who had also been brought to their residence, his grandmother, and his aunt and her husband, Lateef. Rahim was seen inconsolable at the graves, where four of the victims were buried next to each other.
Initially, he sought the grave of his younger son before moving to the other three, praying and weeping as tears streamed down his face. An emotional reunion with another sister only added to the heart-wrenching scene witnessed by many.
Rahim also visited the hospital where his wife is receiving treatment for injuries inflicted by Affan using a hammer.
In a significant development, police have obtained statements from Affan regarding the motives behind the crime. It has emerged that after Rahim’s business in Saudi Arabia failed, he accrued substantial debts to close relatives, leading to tension when repayment was demanded.
Following police interrogation, Affan expressed deep anger towards those who sought repayment and made the shocking decision to eliminate them. Regarding the murder of his girlfriend, he stated that he could not bear the thought of her being left alone.
Currently, Affan, who was arrested on Thursday in connection with one of six cases against him, remains hospitalized as he ingested rat poison shortly after the appalling incident and is now gradually recuperating. Authorities are consulting mental health experts to better understand Affan’s psychological state.
