Mhow, Jan 27 (NationPress) Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge on Monday charged the RSS and BJP with treachery against the nation, asserting their involvement in the assassination of Mahatma Gandhi.

Kharge delivered these remarks at the Congress rally titled "Jai Bapu, Jai Bhim, Jai Samvidhan" in Mhow, Madhya Pradesh, the birthplace of Dr. B. R. Ambedkar, who was instrumental in drafting the Indian Constitution.

In his speech, Kharge condemned the BJP and its ideological mentor, the RSS, for casting doubt on the patriotism of opposition parties. He referenced historical comments made by Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and Jawaharlal Nehru after Gandhi's assassination in 1948.

Quoting Sardar Patel, he claimed, “Sardar Patel stated that the RSS’ jubilation over Gandhi’s murder indicated their culpability. He even pushed for the ban of this organization.”

Kharge also highlighted remarks by former Prime Minister Nehru, who expressed his deep anguish over Gandhi’s assassination, stating that “the communal forces responsible for this atrocious act must be eliminated.”

The Congress president contended that these insights from two revered leaders of India underscored the RSS’ minimal role in the freedom struggle, accusing them instead of ending the life of a man who devoted his existence to the country.

“This is what Nehru and Patel believed about the RSS,” Kharge stated. “Yet, BJP leaders concoct tales of discord between the two to reinforce their agenda.”

He cautioned against the perils of ongoing BJP and RSS supremacy, alleging that they are instigating societal divisions on religious lines.

“If this persists, Dalits and Adivasis will endure greater marginalization, potentially being barred from temples,” he warned. “Dalits and Adivasis must realize that their rights are enshrined in the Constitution, and they should avoid falling into the BJP-RSS trap.”

Kharge asserted, “We all cherish our faith, but we will not stand by idly if the underprivileged are exploited under the guise of religion.”
