New Delhi, May 6 (NationPress) In the midst of intensified political maneuvering regarding potential actions against Pakistan, a declaration by Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge concerning the Prime Minister’s aborted journey to J&K last month has ignited significant controversy.
Mallikarjun Kharge asserted on Tuesday that PM Modi scrapped his planned visit to Kashmir the previous month following an intelligence report, approximately three days prior to the horrific Pahalgam attack.
He contended that the Central government recognized this in an all-party meeting and questioned why additional security forces were not dispatched to manage the situation, given the awareness of intelligence inputs.
“When you received the information, you cancelled your program but failed to send extra forces to safeguard tourists there,” the Congress leader claimed.
Kharge made these statements while addressing the ‘Samvidhan Bachao’ rally in Ranchi, Jharkhand on Tuesday.
He further stated that the government acknowledged lapses in security and intelligence during the all-party meeting, asking, “Why can’t the Centre be held accountable for the loss of innocent lives in Baisaran meadows?”
The BJP, however, quickly retaliated against the Congress party regarding these grave accusations directed at the Prime Minister.
BJP spokesperson Shehzad Poonawala stated that opposition parties were aligning with Pakistan and echoing their sentiments.
“Up until now, figures like Saifuddin Soz, Siddaramaiah, and Charanjit Singh Channi have voiced support for Pakistan, but now Kharge has joined the ranks in disparaging his own nation and government,” he remarked.
He added, “During the all-party meeting, the Congress spoke about national unity, yet soon after, it adopted an anti-India stance by undermining India’s security and demoralizing our armed forces.
“This is the same party that absolved Pakistan of blame and targeted our own during the Pulwama attacks in 2019, the 26/11 Mumbai attacks in 2008, and the Samjhauta blast,” he noted.
Poonawala also charged that the Congress party was concerned about banning Pakistani YouTubers, accusing them of “replacing them with their own anti-India rhetoric.”
“The statements from Congress leaders are being amplified in the Pakistani media and gaining national attention there,” he added.
It is noteworthy that Prime Minister Modi was intended to visit the valley on April 19 to inaugurate the first train from Katra to Srinagar, but it was called off just days before the scheduled event, citing unfavorable weather conditions.
