Hyderabad, July 4 (NationPress) Are migrant workers treated with the same dignity as others? This question was raised by Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) working president K. T. Rama Rao, who expressed his outrage towards the Congress government in Telangana regarding the transport of human remains of victims from the Sigachi Industries explosion in cardboard boxes.
The former minister reacted on 'X' to a disturbing video that depicted several cardboard boxes containing the remains of the workers who lost their lives in the tragic fire and explosion at the Siganchi Industries manufacturing facility located in Pashamylaram, within the Sangareddy district.
"Human remains are being transported in cardboard boxes, while families are begging the police for updates. There is no precise count of how many workers were present during the incident," KTR stated.
He drew attention to the incident that occurred on February 22 in the Srisailam Left Bank Canal (SLBC) tunnel in Nagarkurnool district, where teams halted their rescue efforts to locate missing workers.
"Families of the eight SLBC victims are still waiting for answers - no compensation, no clarity. Are migrant workers any less human, Revanth? Why can't we offer them some dignity in death and closure for their families? Is that too much to ask?" he questioned Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy.
KTR reminded that during the Covid crisis, while many states ignored migrant workers, Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao emerged as their advocate, emphasizing their importance as equal partners in development. "He provided essential support like food, transportation, medical aid, and, most importantly, respect and hope. Despite this exemplary leadership from KCR garu, today, Revanth reduces the tragedy of around 50 workers at the Pashamylaram blast to a mere photo opportunity. This is a disgraceful performance," KTR concluded.
