Bengaluru, March 24 (NationPress) Union Minister for Heavy Industries and Steel H.D. Kumaraswamy, who also holds the position of JD-S President, articulated his party’s position regarding the 4 percent Muslim quota in government contracts, asserting that attempts to create discord between the JD-S and BJP alliances over this matter will not prevail.

“The Congress party is instigating reservation-related turmoil throughout the country. Reservations should not be determined by religion but rather based on the principles of social justice. This remains the steadfast position of the JD-S,” stated the Union Minister.

He dismissed assertions that the JD-S and BJP had differing views regarding their opposition to the Congress government’s decision to allocate a 4 percent quota for Muslims in government contracts.

“Reports circulated by certain newspapers and media outlets are misleading,” he remarked.

Kumaraswamy also pointed out that prior to the start of the legislative session, a meeting of the NDA ‘Coordination Committee’ was convened in Bengaluru, where all matters were extensively deliberated, and a strategy to counter the government was devised.

“I was actively involved in that meeting,” he mentioned.

The Union Minister further accused the Congress government of undermining the very foundation of the reservation system for electoral benefits and vote-bank politics.

“The Congress is deceiving the people of Karnataka by utilizing reservations as a means of appeasement. The party is inciting reservation-related turmoil nationwide,” he stated.

Kumaraswamy reaffirmed that the JD-S and the BJP have engaged in numerous people-focused struggles together and will continue to do so.

“There is no room for compromise on this issue. All communities that are educationally, economically, and socially disadvantaged should receive equal opportunities and benefits. However, favoring one specific community while sidelining many others is unjust and constitutes an affront to the Constitution,” he asserted.

He emphasized that the JD-S is committed to the belief that reservations should be grounded in social justice rather than religion.

Criticizing the state government, the Union Minister remarked that Karnataka is currently witnessing a conflict between appeasement and the marginalization of oppressed classes.

“The Congress government, in pursuit of electoral gains and vote-bank politics, is dismantling the reservation system, which is rooted in the ideal of social justice. Transforming reservations into a tool for appeasement misleads the populace. The Congress party is inciting chaos regarding reservations across the nation,” he claimed.

He affirmed that there is no validity to claims regarding a lack of coordination or agreement between the JD-S and BJP in their opposition to the Karnataka government’s decision to implement a 4 percent contract reservation for Muslims.
