Did Kunal Ghosh Really Send a Legal Notice to the Father of R.G. Kar Victim?
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Kolkata, Aug 12 (NationPress) - Kunal Ghosh, the General Secretary of the West Bengal Trinamool Congress, announced on Tuesday that he has dispatched a legal notice to the father of the R.G. Kar rape and murder victim. This action follows accusations from the victim's father, who claimed that Ghosh had settled the case with the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) by allegedly paying them off on behalf of the West Bengal government.
In a statement via social media, Ghosh expressed, "While I hold great respect and sympathy for Abhaya's father, I must clarify that a legal notice has been issued to him. My legal representative, Ayan Chakraborty, has sent the official correspondence. I anticipate that he will receive it either tomorrow or the day after."
Ghosh went on to assert that Abhaya's father had publicly claimed that the CBI received money, thus compromising the integrity of the investigation.
Abhaya's father also accused that "the state government has financially influenced the CBI. Kunal Ghosh visited the CGO complex and orchestrated a settlement for the RG Kar rape case."
"Such unfounded allegations cannot continue unchecked. If he (Abhaya's father) fails to retract his statements, he will be required to substantiate them in court. After receiving the notice, my lawyer Ayan Chakraborty has allowed him four days to respond, after which I will initiate legal proceedings," Ghosh warned.
On the previous day, Ghosh lambasted Abhaya's father for the purportedly false accusations, stating, "The victim's father claimed that the CBI was bribed, and that I settled the case at the CGO Complex. He is traversing the line of deceit and drama. I empathize with a father mourning his daughter, yet it raises doubts regarding the credibility of those making such statements. What basis do you have to make these allegations against me?"
