Srinagar, Oct 7 (NationPress) The Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, Manoj Sinha, expressed his heartfelt appreciation to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Tuesday for the allocation of Rs 171 crore under the PM-Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme, dedicated to the farmers of the union territory.

In an official announcement, L-G Sinha conveyed profound gratitude to both the Prime Minister and the Union Minister of Agriculture and Farmers' Welfare for the early release of the 21st instalment of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) Scheme.

He noted that approximately Rs 171 crore will be deposited directly into the bank accounts of around 8.55 lakh eligible farmers throughout Jammu and Kashmir with this latest instalment of the PM-KISAN scheme.

“The L-G emphasized that this timely financial assistance will greatly enhance the rural economy and support farmers in maintaining their livelihoods amidst ongoing challenges. I am exceedingly thankful to Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji and Hon’ble Union Minister of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan Ji for this advance release,” he stated. “This financial aid will assist our farmers in sustaining their livelihoods and hastening their recovery to resume agricultural operations,” he added.

Highlighting the importance and resilience of the farming community, the L-G remarked that the farmers of Jammu and Kashmir are the backbone of the economy and play an essential role in stimulating growth in other sectors.

He assured that the Government of India is wholly committed to alleviating the impact of the recent floods, deemed the worst in decades, and to ensuring stability and recovery for the affected populace.

L-G Sinha reaffirmed that the administration will persist in collaborating closely with the Centre to protect farmers’ interests and guarantee they receive all necessary support to promptly resume normal agricultural activities.

It is noteworthy that the Union Ministry of Rural Development has already disbursed Rs 4,224 crore under PMGSY-IV for Jammu and Kashmir.

This amount covers funding for 316 road projects in the region under Batch-I of PMGSY-IV, involving 1,781 km of road construction, marking the largest package ever sanctioned for the Union Territory under this scheme.
