Lakshmi Parvathi Accuses Chandrababu of Causing Family Discord in Jagan’s Clan
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Hyderabad, April 20 (NationPress) N. Lakshmi Parvathi, general secretary of the YSR Congress Party, accused Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu of attempting to sow discord within the family of YSRCP leader and former Chief Minister Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy.
Parvathi, who is the second spouse of former Chief Minister and founder of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP), N. T. Rama Rao (NTR), claimed that Chandrababu previously caused a rift in NTR's family and is now using similar tactics against the Jagan Mohan Reddy family.
During a media briefing, she asserted that Chandrababu had made an underhanded entry into politics, seizing control of the TDP and power from NTR. She emphasized that Chandrababu has never won an election independently.
Parvathi further criticized Chandrababu for promoting his son Nara Lokesh, labeling him as an unsuitable candidate lacking knowledge yet harboring unwarranted ambitions. "Lokesh is just another unworthy candidate with no expertise but inflated aspirations," she stated.
She highlighted that while Jagan Mohan Reddy has ardently supported women's empowerment, exemplified by his provision of 50% reservations for women, Chandrababu has consistently let women down through his actions regarding Self Help Groups, pensions, free bus travel, and other initiatives.
According to her, the Amaravati project serves merely as a money-making scheme for Chandrababu, while she described the MAVIGUN (Machilipatnam, Vijayawada, Guntur) proposal, put forth by Jagan Mohan Reddy, as the most feasible and sensible option.
In a related statement, YSRCP spokesperson and former MLA Rachamallu Siva Prasad Reddy vehemently condemned Lokesh, accusing him of political opportunism for his sudden admiration for Jagan Mohan Reddy’s mother, YS Vijayamma.
He noted that Lokesh's unexpected birthday greetings to Y.S. Vijayamma appear politically motivated rather than genuinely respectful.
Reddy pointed out that while some individuals profess to respect Jagan Mohan Reddy’s mother and admire his sister, they simultaneously attack his wife, highlighting a clear instance of unethical political maneuvers.
He emphasized that Vijayamma’s birthday signifies a joyous occasion for YSRCP supporters and those who hold the YSR family in high regard. However, Lokesh's sudden display of affection raises serious suspicions, especially since he has not shown such kindness in the past.
Siva Prasad Reddy asserted that this so-called "newfound respect" is part of a calculated strategy to exploit internal family conflicts for political leverage and to alienate YS Jagan from his family.
He recalled past humiliating incidents involving Vijayamma during the previous TDP administration, casting doubt on the sincerity of current gestures from those same factions.
Reddy also criticized the selective nature of such gestures, questioning whether similar congratulations have ever been extended to the mothers of other political leaders, including national figures, labeling this behavior as blatant hypocrisy.
