Union Minister for Panchayati Raj, Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying Rajiv Ranjan Singh, popularly known as Lalan Singh, on Monday, 15 June 2026, inaugurated the regional office of the National Fisheries Development Board (NFDB), Hyderabad, in Patna, marking a significant expansion of the central fisheries body's footprint in eastern India.

In a post on X, the minister described the inauguration as 'matasya kshetra ke vikas ko nayi disha dene wala mahatvapurna kadam' — 'an important step that will give new direction to the development of the fisheries sector.' He noted that through this office, fish farmers would gain access to modern technology, quality training, scientific guidance, and better market linkages, boosting both their incomes and employment in Bihar.

The event was attended by Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary, Bihar Cooperation Minister Ram Kripal Yadav, Patna Sahib MLA Ratnesh Kushwaha, and other dignitaries. Singh credited the initiative to the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, reaffirming the government's commitment to the conservation, promotion, and welfare of fish farmers.
