Patna, Dec 20 (NationPress) RJD leader and former Railway Minister, as well as Bihar Chief Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav, has successfully undergone a combined cataract and retina surgery at a medical facility in New Delhi on Saturday, as confirmed by his family and medical staff.

The operation was executed without any issues, and his current state is reported to be stable and comfortable. His daughter, Misa Bharti, shared updates on her social media platforms, indicating a positive recovery process.

The surgery was conducted by renowned ophthalmologist and Chairman of the Centre for Sight group of eye hospitals, Dr. Mahipal Singh Sachdev.

Sources from the hospital revealed that the intricate cataract and retinal surgery was performed in alignment with internationally recognized medical standards and protocols.

Providing insights into the operation, Dr. Sachdev stated: "Lalu Prasad Yadav underwent a scheduled cataract and retinal procedure, which was successfully executed. Today's advanced ophthalmic technologies and improved surgical methods make such procedures safe, precise, and minimally invasive. He has shown positive responses to the treatment and is expected to have a smooth and rapid recovery, contingent on regular post-operative care and follow-ups."

Dr. Sachdev further noted that advancements in ophthalmology over the past ten years have significantly enhanced the precision and comfort of cataract and retinal surgeries, making them largely painless and bladeless.

"Utilizing advanced imaging systems, micro-incision techniques, and cutting-edge surgical platforms, these treatments facilitate quicker visual rehabilitation with minimal interruption to everyday activities. Generally, including Lalu Prasad Yadav’s case, these surgeries are conducted as day-care procedures, allowing patients to return home the same day without extended hospitalization," he added.

After the successful operation, Lalu Prasad Yadav has been discharged and will continue his recovery at home. The medical team has recommended routine follow-ups to monitor healing and visual enhancement.
