Leaders from IAC Movement Express Grief Over Dr. Manmohan Singh's Passing

Mumbai, Dec 27 (NationPress) The prominent leaders of the former India Against Corruption (IAC) movement, Anna Hazare, Kiran Bedi, and Baba Ramdev, have expressed their condolences following the death of former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh and have paid heartfelt tributes to his leadership and economic reforms on Friday.

The veteran anti-corruption activist Kisan Baburao, known as Anna Hazare, who is 87 years old, shared his thoughts in his hometown of Ralegan-Siddhi in the Ahilyanagari district, stating that Dr. Singh was a staunch opponent of corruption and provided a 'new direction' for the nation.

"Dr. Singh had a profound love for the country and its people… All who are born must eventually pass, but some leave behind cherished memories and a lasting legacy. He will always be in my thoughts," remarked Hazare.

In her tribute, Kiran Bedi, aged 75, described Dr. Singh as "a truly good human being, humble and soft-spoken," expressing her sadness upon learning of his passing late Thursday in Delhi.

"He will be most remembered for the essential economic reforms he introduced for the country… the benefits of which we continue to enjoy today," noted Kiran Bedi, as she shared a photo from her book release event featuring Dr. Singh.

Baba Ramdev, 60, labeled Dr. Singh as the 'architect of a modern developing India' and a master of economic reforms, having closely observed his work.

"I had the privilege of meeting Dr. Singh multiple times and shared a variety of suggestions and opinions, all of which he listened to patiently and implemented promptly. He never lost his composure and approached his duties with a commitment to transparency. He was a ‘Maha-Manav’, and his loss is an irreparable blow to the nation," expressed Baba Ramdev, extending his sincere condolences.

Alongside many others, these three leaders participated in a series of protests against the UPA-II government under Dr. Singh in 2011, advocating for a strong Lokpal and Lokayuktas.

These high-profile movements during the UPA's second term unsettled the Congress-led coalition and eventually cleared the way for the Bharatiya Janata Party-led NDA to gain power in 2014.

Subsequently, Hazare largely withdrew from active campaigning, Bedi joined the BJP, while Baba Ramdev continues to be a prominent advocate of Yoga and operates his Ayurvedic products business.

Another notable figure from the IAC movement, Arvind Kejriwal, 56, established the Aam Aadmi Party, secured victory in the Delhi Assembly elections, and became the Chief Minister of Delhi. Ironically, he has faced accusations of corruption.
