Manmohan Singh Transformed India's Economic Future, Claims Assam Congress Chief

Guwahati, Dec 27 (NationPress) Assam Congress President Bhupen Borah remarked on Friday that Manmohan Singh, in his capacity as the Finance Minister, significantly transformed India's economic future.
In a post on X, Borah highlighted, “As Finance Minister, he reshaped India’s economic destiny and initiated a period of growth and prosperity.”
He also expressed, “No amount of language can capture the grief and sorrow we experience due to the loss of former PM Dr. Manmohan Singh ji.”
According to the veteran Congress leader, the former Prime Minister's legacy is unparalleled in contemporary India.
“Dr. Manmohan Singh’s legacy is without equal in the modern era. From his modest beginnings in pre-Partition Pakistan to achieving the highest office in India, Dr. Singh symbolizes not only hard work and merit but also the potential of post-Independence democratic India,” Borah elaborated.
“During Dr. Singh's tenure as Prime Minister, India's economic progress, coupled with transformative welfare initiatives, propelled the country to a higher level in its growth trajectory, positioning India as a potential economic powerhouse of the 21st century. His contributions will be recorded in golden letters in our history books,” he stated.
Former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh, a renowned economist and the architect of India's economic reforms, passed away on Thursday at the age of 92. He was admitted to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) following a decline in his health.
Dr. Singh, who served as the country's Prime Minister from 2004 to 2014, was recognized for his transformative influence on India's economy during a significant liberalization phase. His tenure is often credited with initiating major economic reforms in 1991 while he was the finance minister, which modernized India's economy and integrated it into the global market.
A figure of humility and intellect, Dr. Singh was respected both in India and internationally.
Under his leadership, India experienced steady economic growth, a reduction in poverty, and a strengthened position on the global stage. His government was also noted for enacting critical legislations in areas such as education, food security, and information.
