Guwahati, Feb 25 (NationPress) Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Advantage Assam 2.0 Investment and Infrastructure Summit on Tuesday, praising the consistent growth of the state's economy from Rs 2.75 lakh crore in 2018 (when Assam hosted the inaugural edition) to Rs 6 lakh crore currently, attributing it to the 'effect of double-engine government'.

The second iteration of the Advantage Assam Summit is poised to significantly enhance the state's economic framework, with substantial investments expected to exceed projections.

Several industry leaders and entrepreneurs, in discussions with IANS, shared insights on the untapped potential of the North-Eastern state and how the Summit will generate numerous opportunities for the local populace. They also commended the Prime Minister's unwavering commitment to the development of the North-Eastern region.

Pradeep Purohit, Chief Operating Officer of Star Cement Ltd, stated to IANS: "Star Cement has been associated with Assam for the past 20 years. We are dedicated to providing the state with the highest quality cement while contributing to infrastructure development through establishing our own industries and supplying materials for major projects.”

“The Prime Minister has prioritized this region since taking office in 2014. The motivational messages he conveyed, particularly for Assam, are invaluable for us to learn from," he added.

Tuhin Bhattacharjee from Oil India remarked: "We are thrilled to be part of Advantage Assam 2.0. This initiative by the Assam government is remarkable, especially considering that oil and NRL are fundamental to the energy sector, not only in Assam but across the entire North-East."

Md. Hanif Noorani, CEO of Assam Skills University, noted: "This is the first skill university in the entire North-East. It will not only benefit students from North-East but also those from BBIN, offering advanced courses across nine schools with a capacity to train 10,000 students annually.”

Manash, a lemon farmer, commented: "Assam lemon is a GI (Geographical Indication) fruit, meaning it can only be cultivated here. This unique fruit is abundant in our region, and during peak season, it often goes to waste. We decided to add value to our product by creating unique refreshments using pure pulp from Assam lemon.”
