Jaipur, Feb 14 (NationPress) A legal complaint has been registered against well-known YouTubers Samay Raina, Ranveer Allahabadia, Ashish Chanchlani, and Apoorva Mukhija in Kota due to their allegedly obscene and offensive remarks regarding parents in their comedy show 'India's Got Latent'.

The complaint, submitted by a collective of lawyers at the Nayapura police station, asserts that the show fosters vulgarity under the pretense of comedy, which they contend is an affront to India's social and moral principles.

The group of complainants, including lawyers Ritesh Gurjar, Hemlata Sharma, Yash Kumar Nagar, Vishwas Shaktawat, Arvind Rathore, and Rukhsar Syed, highlighted that such content adversely affects society, especially the youth, and undermines traditional values.

The contentious episode was uploaded to YouTube on February 8 as part of stand-up comedian Samay Raina’s show 'India’s Got Latent', which boasts a global subscriber count exceeding 7.3 million.

Renowned for its provocative comedic material, the show has now become a focal point of controversy. Lawyer Ritesh Gurjar voiced concerns regarding the show's repercussions, particularly in Kota, a city famed as India’s educational epicenter, attracting thousands of students annually for medical and engineering studies.

He contended that such content misguides young minds, asserting: “In our culture, parents are revered like God. Making indecent comments about them is an insult to our values.”

The legal representatives insisted that a case be filed against the accused comedians, labeling them “anti-social elements”, and called for a permanent ban on the show. Hemant Sharma, a veteran, condemned the episode, which has also been shared on Instagram and other social media platforms. He remarked that the accused comedians “crossed all limits of decency”, making statements that were “impossible to even listen to.”

He went on to caution that such vulgar humor not only corrupts young minds but also incites inappropriate behavior and crimes against women.

In the wake of the backlash, Samay Raina addressed the controversy on Instagram. On Wednesday, he announced that he had deleted all videos of the show from YouTube, claiming that his aim was solely to entertain and evoke laughter.

As the legal proceedings progress, this incident has ignited a wider discussion about the boundaries of comedy and the accountability of content creators on digital platforms.
