Laura Loomer Critiques Pakistan as a Hub of Terrorism; Reflects on Past Anti-India Comments
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
New Delhi, March 14 (NationPress) American far-right activist and fervent supporter of former US President Donald Trump, Laura Loomer, ignited controversy during her participation in the India Today Conclave 2026 on Saturday by making strong allegations against Pakistan and expressing regret for certain past anti-India remarks on social media.
While addressing the audience in New Delhi, Loomer cautioned the United States against enhancing its relationship with Pakistan, claiming that the nation is associated with worldwide terrorism.
“The primary export of Pakistan to the world is Islamic terrorism, and I firmly believe that the US should not be developing a closer relationship with the Pakistani government,” she stated.
Loomer further accused Pakistan of backing extremist groups and asserted that numerous global terrorist events have ties to the country.
“Pakistan functions as an openly jihadist and pro-Sharia state, and when examining many Islamist terrorist incidents globally, there is frequently a connection to Pakistan,” she remarked.
In reference to a recent incident in the US, Loomer highlighted the case of Pakistani national Asif Merchant, who was convicted for allegedly conspiring to assassinate President Trump and other prominent American officials.
Investigators reported that Merchant supposedly attempted to recruit individuals within the US to target President Trump, purportedly in response to the assassination of Iranian military commander Qassem Soleimani in 2020.
“This situation clarifies one thing: a significant portion of terrorism primarily originates from Pakistan,” Loomer stated.
During the same event, Loomer addressed backlash regarding her previous posts on social media platform 'X', which included offensive comments about Indians. These posts gained traction online following her arrival in India for the conclave, leading to widespread criticism.
When asked about the situation, Loomer admitted that some of her statements were inappropriate.
“There were things I wrote in those tweets that I should not have said,” she acknowledged.
Nevertheless, she affirmed her stance against the H-1B visa program in the United States. “I will not apologize for opposing the H-1B visa program, as my role is to advocate for American interests. Our immigration and labor laws are being exploited. I will persist in advocating for American workers who are struggling to secure jobs,” she declared.
