Bhopal, March 18 (NationPress) The Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, Mohan Yadav, announced on Tuesday that his administration is dedicated to enhancing religious tourism in the state and is actively pursuing this goal.

During his visit to Omkareshwar, one of the 12 Jyotirlingas, CM Yadav made this declaration.

He also took the opportunity to review the development efforts along the banks of the Narmada River.

"Our government is tirelessly working to elevate religious tourism in Madhya Pradesh. The state is blessed to have two of the 12 Jyotirlingas—one located in Ujjain and the other in Khandwa. We are devoted to transforming Omkareshwar Dham similar to Mahakal Lok in Ujjain," stated CM Yadav.

He also pointed out that adequate funding has been allocated for tourism, cultural, and religious initiatives in the annual budget.

The state government has earmarked Rs 1,610 crore for tourism, culture, and religious trusts, including Rs 507 crore designated for the construction of 14 religious and cultural monuments across the state. This encompasses the Omkareshwar Mahalok project, which will be developed following the architectural design of Ujjain's Mahakal Lok.

This project will also feature the establishment of the Acharya Shankar International Advaita Vedanta Institute, aimed at promoting the teachings of Adi Shankaracharya.

This initiative aspires to position Omkareshwar as a global spiritual center, drawing scholars, devotees, and cultural tourists.

Out of the Rs 507 crore budget, Rs 30 crore has been allocated for the 'Ram Path Gaman' project and the development of Chitrakoot, a site deeply embedded in Hindu mythology.

Additionally, Rs 10 crore has been allocated for the 'Shri Krishna Pathey Yojana', focusing on developing locations associated with the life of Lord Krishna, and Rs 100 crore for establishing Gita Bhawan study centers in urban regions. Furthermore, Rs 2,005 crore has been reserved for the grand organization of the Simhastha Kumbh Mela 2028 in Ujjain, modeled after the recent Maha Kumbh held in Prayagraj.
