Madhya Pradesh Prepares for PM Modi's Foundation Stone Laying of Ken-Betwa Link Project on December 25

Bhopal, Dec 19 (NationPress) The government of Madhya Pradesh is making arrangements for Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Chhatapur on December 25 to lay the foundation stone for the Ken-Betwa link project.

The Chief Minister, Mohan Yadav, will travel to the Bundelkhand region on Thursday to assess the state's preparations and engage in various programs organized in different districts leading up to PM Modi's visit.

During his visit, the Chief Minister will attend a 'Kisan Sammelan' (farmers' gathering) at a stadium located in Chhatarpur district. Farmers from the districts of Panna, Chhatarpur, and Sagar in the Bundelkhand region will be present at this event.

Chief Minister Yadav will address the farmers to explain the advantages of the highly anticipated Ken-Betwa river linking project which connects Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh.

Afterward, he will join a 'Jal Kalash Yatra' taking place in Panna district, where a group of women will lead a colorful procession through the streets. The Chief Minister will also attend a 'Sant Sammelan' (gathering of saints) in Panna.

All these activities are part of the 'Jan-Kalyan Parv', a campaign commemorating one year of the BJP government in Madhya Pradesh.

The Ken-Betwa River interlinking project aims to transfer surplus water from the Ken River in Madhya Pradesh to the Betwa River in Uttar Pradesh to irrigate the drought-affected Bundelkhand region.

PM Modi's visit to Chhatarpur for laying the foundation stone of the Ken-Betwa river linking project coincides with the birth anniversary of former PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee on December 25.

Previously, CM Yadav indicated that the project would supply irrigation water to over 8.1 lakh hectares in Madhya Pradesh's Bundelkhand region and an additional 2.5 lakh hectares in Uttar Pradesh. The districts of Chhatarpur, Panna, Tikamgarh, Niwari, Sheopur, Damoh, Datia, Raisen, Vidisha, and Sagar will benefit from this project.

It is noteworthy that a similar river interlinking project was initiated between Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan. A tripartite agreement was concluded between MP, Rajasthan, and the Central government in the presence of PM Modi in Jaipur on Tuesday.

The project will facilitate irrigation water for 6.1 lakh hectares of farmland across 11 districts in Madhya Pradesh, including Guna, Rajgarh, Shivpuri, Dewas, Ujjain, Agar, Mandsaur, and Morena.
