PM Modi to Inaugurate Ken-Betwa River Linking Initiative on December 25: Chief Minister of MP

Bhopal, Dec 12 (NationPress) Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to visit Chhatarpur in Madhya Pradesh to inaugurate the significant Ken-Betwa Link project on December 25, according to Chief Minister Mohan Yadav on Thursday.
While addressing the media, CM Yadav confirmed that the green light has been granted by the Prime Minister's Office (PMO). This approval followed CM Yadav's meeting with PM Modi at the Parliament House on December 10, during which he requested the Prime Minister to lay the foundation stone for this crucial interlinking project.
The objective of this river interlinking initiative is to channel excess water from the Ken River in Madhya Pradesh to the Betwa River in Uttar Pradesh, aiming to irrigate the drought-stricken Bundelkhand region.
"PM Modi will be visiting Chhatarpur to lay the foundation stone of the Ken-Betwa river linking project on the occasion of the birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee on December 25," CM Yadav stated in a subsequent announcement.
CM Yadav also indicated that the project is expected to supply irrigation water to over 8.1 lakh hectares in MP's Bundelkhand region and an additional 2.5 lakh hectares in Uttar Pradesh.
The districts that will gain from this initiative include Chhatarpur, Panna, Tikamgarh, Niwari, Sheopur, Damoh, Datia, Raisen, Vidisha, and Sagar.
On this occasion, the state government has also arranged a 'Kisan Sammelan' on December 25 in every district involved in the project.
Additionally, on December 17, PM Modi will lay the foundation stone for the Parvati-Kali Sindh-Chambal river-linking project in Jaipur, which aims to bring 6.1 lakh hectares of agricultural land under irrigation across 11 districts of Madhya Pradesh, including Guna, Rajgarh, Shivpuri, Dewas, Ujjain, Agar, Mandsaur, and Morena.
Earlier on Thursday, CM Mohan Yadav engaged with representatives from gram panchayats in his own Assembly constituency Ujjain as part of the 'Jan Kalyan Parv' campaign, commemorating the one-year milestone of his government. He held a virtual meeting with gram panchayat leaders at the Ujjain district headquarters, attended by the Collector and senior officials. Panchayat leaders congratulated him on completing one year in office as Chief Minister.
"The Jan Kalyan Parv is being celebrated statewide with the goal of delivering public welfare benefits to women, farmers, youth, and the underprivileged, making our resolution a reality," stated the CM.
The state government initiated the 'Jan Kalyan Parv' campaign to highlight the achievements during the past year, coinciding with an event in Ujjain on the occasion of Gita Jayanti on Wednesday. The campaign aims to connect more individuals with the government’s welfare schemes. Both initiatives will continue until December 26.
