Bhopal, Feb 21 (NationPress) The forthcoming Global Investors Summit 2025 (GIS 2025) in Bhopal will feature the PM MITRA Mega Integrated Textile Region and Apparel initiative, designed to create a state-of-the-art textile park in Pithampur, Dhar district, Madhya Pradesh.
Inspired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 5F vision (Farm to Fibre to Factory to Fashion to Foreign), the PM MITRA Parks are being established at seven sites across India via special purpose vehicles (SPV).
These greenfield textile parks will benefit from a central government allocation of Rs 500 crore. The state government aims to attract industries to set up operations in the park, which will offer comprehensive facilities for investors, ranging from design to dyeing.
"A specialized textile expo will be held during the GIS, aimed at drawing in investors from the textile sector," a government official shared with IANS.
The GIS 2025 is scheduled for February 24-25, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurating the event. This initiative seeks to draw investment in organic cotton, encouraging the establishment of weaving, knitting, and machine manufacturing units.
Regions like Chhindwara, Bhopal, Nimar Belt, Burhanpur, and Jabalpur are being promoted for weaving and knitting, while Mandideep, Bhopal, Pithampur, and Gwalior are earmarked for machine manufacturing units.
During a high-level meeting in June last year, the Chief Minister highlighted the urgency to accelerate processes linked to the Rs 500 crore project approved by the Textile Ministry for the Integrated Textile and Apparel Park in Dhar district. He urged agencies to expedite efforts to create 25,000 jobs through 21 units in the PM Mega Textile Park.
The government has earmarked Rs 4,445 crore for these parks until 2027-28. The Government of India will cover 49 percent of the SPV's equity under the MITRA Park, while the participating state government will contribute 51 percent.
Formally sanctioned by the Government of India in March 2023, the park will be located in Bhensola village of Badnawar Tehsil, Dhar district.
A memorandum of understanding (MoU) between the Ministry of Textiles and the Madhya Pradesh government was signed on May 21, 2023. The textile park will span 1,563 acres of land.
The Madhya Pradesh Industrial Development Corporation (MPIDC) holds the land, strategically positioned 110 km from Indore and 85 km from the Pithampur industrial cluster. The park is also 50 km from both Ratlam and the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway, and 452 km from the nearest port, Hazira.
Madhya Pradesh produces 317,000 metric tonnes of premium cotton, representing 24 percent of the world's non-GMO organic cotton and 47 percent of India's non-GMO organic cotton.
Additionally, the state is the exclusive producer of extra-long staple (ELS) cotton in India.
This park will enhance the competitiveness of India's textile sector, attracting leading global investors. The PM MITRA Park in Bhensola, Madhya Pradesh, has already secured over Rs 6,000 crore in investment commitments from major textile and garment companies from across India.
Madhya Pradesh is an optimal location for apparel manufacturing, with the number of garment manufacturing units increasing from 11 units in 2003 to 60 large textile units today, highlighting its swift development and appeal to investors.
