Bhopal, June 16 (NationPress) The Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, Mohan Yadav, declared an extra Rs 250 as a ‘Rakshabandhan Shagun’ (gift) for women participating in the Ladli Behna Yojana, bringing the total monthly aid to Rs 1,500 in time for the upcoming Rakshabandhan festival.

He further stated that beneficiaries will eventually receive Rs 3,000 each month.

Rakshabandhan, commonly known as Rakhi, is a beloved festival that honors the relationship between brothers and sisters.

This festival is celebrated on the full moon day of the Hindu month of Shravana, usually in August, and involves a sister performing a symbolic ritual of tying a rakhi, a sacred thread, around her brother’s wrist.

The announcement took place at a public gathering in Bargi, Jabalpur, where the Chief Minister transferred Rs 2,080 crore to the bank accounts of 1.27 crore women as part of the scheme’s 25th installment.

“Our government is dedicated to empowering women, with the welfare of mothers, sisters, and daughters being our utmost priority. Today, in an event held in the Bargi Assembly constituency of Jabalpur, over Rs 2,080 crore was effortlessly transferred to the accounts of beneficiaries through a single click, covering numerous welfare schemes, including the 25th installment of the Chief Minister Ladli Behna Yojana,” the Chief Minister posted on his X account.

Initiated in June 2023, the Ladli Behna Yojana aims to uplift women both economically and socially by providing direct financial assistance. Originally, the program provided Rs 1,000 monthly to married women aged 21 to 60.

This amount was raised to Rs 1,250 during Rakshabandhan 2023. With this latest festive increase, eligible women will be entitled to Rs 1,500 in August 2025.

Chief Minister Yadav reiterated the government's pledge to incrementally boost the monthly assistance to Rs 3,000, fulfilling a long-term promise to enhance women's financial autonomy.

“All our sisters will soon receive Rs 3,000 per month,” Chief Minister Yadav stated.

The gathering in Jabalpur was part of a broader outreach initiative, where the Chief Minister also allocated Rs 341 crore to 56.68 lakh beneficiaries under the Social Security Pension Scheme and Rs 150 crore to 6,821 underprivileged families through the Sambal Yojana.

Furthermore, Rs 39.14 crore was provided for LPG cylinder refills to over 27 lakh women as part of the state's gas subsidy program.

During the event, CM Yadav highlighted the transformative influence of the Ladli Behna Yojana, noting that the scheme has distributed over Rs 28,000 crore across 25 installments since its launch.

He emphasized the government's vision to align the scheme with national social security initiatives like the Atal Pension Yojana and Pradhan Mantri Bima Yojanas, ensuring long-term financial security for women.
