Maha Kumbh 2025: Permanent Ghats Enhance Pilgrimage

New Delhi, Jan 20 (NationPress) The magnificent Maha Kumbh 2025 in Prayagraj is currently taking place, attracting a large number of devotees each day for a sacred dip in the Ganga. This year’s event is notable not just for its religious importance but also for the government’s significant infrastructure enhancements, particularly the establishment of permanent (pucca) ghats.

These permanent constructions have greatly improved the experiences of pilgrims, providing safer and more convenient access to the riverbanks.

With an estimated 400-500 million attendees anticipated during the event, the Maha Kumbh is poised to become one of the largest religious congregations in history.

The newly constructed permanent ghats, especially the renowned Dashashwamedh Ghat in Daraganj, lie at the core of this transformation, receiving widespread acclaim from devotees and local priests alike.

The Dashashwamedh Ghat, spanning 100 metres in length and 80 metres in width, has been completely overhauled, allowing devotees to bathe without the dangers associated with previous temporary arrangements.

Vishal, a pilgrim from Kushinagar, commented, “This is a Maha Kumbh occurring after 144 years, and the facilities this time are far better than ever. The permanent ghats have made bathing so much easier and safer. I urge everyone to come and experience this amazing event. The government has truly excelled.”

Local priest Pramod Dubey supported this view, stating, “Previously, the temporary ghats often resulted in injuries from sharp objects like bricks and glass. The establishment of permanent ghats has resolved these issues. This is a monumental effort by the government, and we are extremely pleased.”

Despite the chilly temperatures, millions of devotees have been flocking to Prayagraj to immerse themselves in the sacred waters. The enhanced infrastructure, alongside improved safety and sanitation measures, has significantly elevated their experience.

Meenu, a devotee, expressed her thoughts: “I came here alone but felt completely secure. The cleanliness and safety measures are outstanding, and the permanent ghats have made the bathing experience so much more accessible. Everyone should come and witness this grandeur.”

Gita, another devotee, commended the government’s initiatives, noting, “This is the first time such well-planned arrangements have been made. Previously, temporary ghats presented numerous challenges, but this time, everything is flawless. The permanent ghats are a true blessing for us all.”

In addition to the permanent ghats, roads leading to the event have been expanded, and access routes to the ghats have been enhanced to ensure a smooth flow of visitors.

With its unmatched infrastructure and spiritual significance, the Maha Kumbh 2025, running from January 13 to February 26 in Prayagraj, is attracting massive crowds of devotees.
