The incident transpired at the Sangam during the festivities of Mauni Amavasya at the Maha Kumbh Mela.
During the call, HM Shah assessed the situation and promised all necessary assistance from the Centre to address the circumstances and secure the safety of the pilgrims.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath appealed to the attendees of the Maha Kumbh to adhere to the guidelines and work in tandem with the administration. He emphasized that devotees should bathe at the nearest Ganga ghats instead of attempting to reach the 'Sangam Nose' area.
"There are numerous ghats available for bathing. Please refrain from overcrowding and comply with the administration's directives. Your cooperation is vital for maintaining order and safety,” he stated.
He urged devotees not to heed any rumors. In a message shared on the social media platform X, the CM wrote; "Take a bath at the ghat of Mother Ganga near your location, and do not try to travel towards Sangam Nose. Everyone should abide by the administration's instructions and assist in the arrangements. Many are bathing peacefully at all the ghats of Sangam. Ignore any rumors."
Earlier, Prime Minister Narendra Modi also contacted CM Yogi regarding the situation following the stampede-like occurrence in the Kumbh area, advocating for immediate support measures.
A crowd Diversion Plan was enacted at the Maha Kumbh, halting the entry of devotees. Groups were stopped on the city’s outskirts.
A stampede-like situation erupted at the Maha Kumbh in Prayagraj during the early hours of Wednesday, leading up to the 'Amrit Snan' on 'Mauni Amavasya'.
As per officials, a significant influx of pilgrims arrived for a sacred bath on the occasion of Mauni Amavasya, resulting in a stampede-like scenario that injured many.
Reports indicate at least 30 women were injured and are receiving treatment at the central hospital set up within the Mela area.
The Uttar Pradesh government anticipated 10 crore pilgrims at the Maha Kumbh on a single day and had bolstered security in view of the 'Amrit Snan'.

Panic erupted about a kilometer away from the sacred meeting point of the Ganga, Yamuna, and the mythical Saraswati rivers, as barricades collapsed, inciting chaos among the crowd.
The surge of people caused several women to faint, leading to a stampede-like scenario. Those injured were promptly transported to a nearby hospital located within the Maha Kumbh fairgrounds, while some of the more critically injured were moved to Bailey Hospital and Swaroop Rani Medical College for further treatment.
